Hey cat I have a RIA best 1911 for the money you cant go wrong.
-
Got my side rail mount and barrel mount today, and they are both very good quality, cant wait for the site to get here. Now I have a place to put the goodies!!!! ;D

I dont see a compensator on that Beowulf. I want to know about the recoil after you get to shoot it flyandscuba. Thanks

Ha! Installed the compensator this morning -- letting the Loctite cure right now! I've got to locate ammo before I can test it out...seems to be a shortage right now and AA is backordered. I suspect quite a bit has been going overseas...

I put this together a couple of months ago, but today was the first opportunity I had to take it to the range for zeroing the Trijicon Reflex sight.
All I can say is that I had a HUGE grin on my face as I went through the process! To think, I was going to sell off the old unused Bushy when an email message from Randy Cain convinced me to give the Beowulf a try.
I did put in a heavy buffer and replaced the collapsable stock for the A2 stock -- and added the optional muzzle brake. To me, the recoil was no worse than my AR-10 firing milsurp ball.
With the Rainer 334 gr HP bullet producing 1800 fps and 2400 ftlbs at the 50 yard mark -- it should do quite well on Hogs. It is essentially similar ballistics to the 500 S&W Magnum out of an AR platform. Owning the 500 S&W Magnum both in a revolver and a single shot rifle, I can tell you that this is much more comfortable to shoot.
One thing I might mention, although the muzzle brake reduces the felt recoil, it does make the rifle extremely loud to those on the firing line. When I walked up to the rifle line, I purposely went to the far end -- knowing this would produce a retort. Several AR shooters were on the line. One was showing off a suppressor and another was blasting away with an SBR. Negative comments were already being made about the loudness of the SBR as I loaded up quietly -- turning my back to the rest of the line, lest the secret be spoiled.
Amidst the pop - pop - pow -pow, I squeezed the trigger... Curiously, the range fell silent. A "DAAAAY-UMM" was uttered somewhere down the line -- and then someone spied the box of ammo labeled Beowulf. :) It turned out to be the crowd pleaser for the day.
Once I have the opportunity to use it on some meat, I'll post another range report -- along with some pics. For now, just a few of the set-up:

Nice! What is the trajectory like and where are you going to zero?
-
very nice ;D

Here's a link to the ballistics:

With the 334 grain bullet -- it appears zeroing at 50 yards will put it near zero at 100 yards as well.
-
Yep, looks like a 50 ZERO will be fine out to 125 for hunting.
Wish I could get these stats for my 45 colt carbine or the 454 carbine. I can only find it for revolvers.
I can get it for my sons' 44 mag carbine but it looks like the 45 and 454 are orphans!

That .50 Beauwolf looks slick!

went to the gun show today and came home with a Bushmaster V match flattop bull barrel free floating new for 740.00 out the door. its on the bottom right of their product page. Good price I thought , also got a reflex site. there was no ammo to be had there and it was a huge show, only some 762x39 bulk .I could of spent mucho money, I had to leave after buying the rifle ;D

MSRP 1105.00 for 740.00 what a deal.

It turns out its a true 5.56 rifle ,did not know they made those as match rifles because of the chamber size. But Im happy.Im no match shooter anyway, if I can make a good hit at 200yds thats all I need.
-
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u261/PicSnic/AR-15.jpg" Here is the new addition ;D
-
Well how about that, it's BLACK!
Seriously, just read an article in Rifleman and if I was to get an EBR it would be 556 not 223. What's the twist?
-
The recoil of the Beowulf is very subjective, I had the dubious pleasure of getting one of the first from RRA a few years ago while I was working as an instructor. The first box of ammo went pretty quick that day for the three of us shooting it. But I will admit the next day I requested the gunsmith order and install the muzzle brake before I had any intention of using it on a regular basis. One of the other instructors replied he liked it better without the brake. Big difference in the "noise".
-
Hazcat, its 1-9 and to my suprise only 3 manufacturers chamber ARs for .223 most are 5.56 Colts are all 1-7 twist , friend lent me his AR book, had all the mans. in there and the whole history of the platform. Very interesting. Its been so long I had to dig up my M16A1 operators manual to refamilurize myself.LOL

I know what you mean! Some one stuck one in my hands a few months back and I had to check out the 'controls' again to familiarize.
