Looking for a secure pistol box at an affordable price in order to securely keep a few handguns at the ready around the house. Any ideas on how to get the most bang for the buck?
At this point I am leaning towards the Homak boxes ($40-$60):

That's not very big. We've got a little safe from Staples (http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/c2_Furniture-Safes_51281_Products_10705_12292_Business_Supplies_2_10051_Furniture) bolted down on a desktop...has a round key and a combination. We can leave it all locked or just the key or whatever and it's pretty quick access...plus we've got "X" number of pistols plus spare loaded mags and speed loaders at the ready. Much more than the little gun boxes.

Gun vault is the only other one I've seen.

Don't have one, but my criteria as I have looked and thought is the need to be secured to something solid and immovable, strong, large enough to hold what I want, and no key needed for entry.
It appears from the website that Gun Vault has several options to meet those needs.

Here's another option:

Yeah, I have that exact one in the bedroom (I paid $75 for mine and have been very happy with it)...... but the kids are getting a little older now, and I want to be able to safely keep a few handguns at the ready in other places around the house. So, I am looking specifically for something small enough to hold one gun and an extra mag (say in the kitchen, or behind the recliner, or where ever). I want something small that will give me quick access, and that can be bolted down ---- and I'd like to stay under $100 per.

I thought about getting one or two of the Gun Vaults with a biometric scanner. It reads one of up to 30 fingerprints you log into it and it opens. I want to bolt one down on top on my safe for quick access instead of just having my gun sitting out all the time.

I realize that any safe can be broken into..... I am just trying to keep my kids from getting their hands on my guns and accidentally shooting themselves..... and also possibly making someone that might burglarize my home when I am not there have to work that much harder to steal my guns.

This is what I use when the grand kids are about. http://www.center-of-mass.com/

Whole page of safes, including between the studs flush ones. You know, the ones you cover with a picture.

UPDATE: I had forgotten about this until it was brought up again in the "Question for Rob Pincus" thread, but this is what I decided on.... I bought 2 of them.... one upstairs and one downstairs... I have been very pleased with them and definitely would recommend them.
They may not be the best burglar deterrent -- but hell, I dont even plan on bolting mine down... it is much more conducive for storage location and travel-ability if they are not..... plus the Glocks that they contain would be easily replaceable with the insurance check I would get if there were a break in and they go stolen. However, these lock boxes are more then enough to keep little kids' hands off and at the same time provide near instant access (about 3 seconds) to a ready to go defensive tool.

I have a Sentry safe, about 18" x 18" for stuff that's not being worn/kept close at hand. I don't ever keep everything locked up.
