If you listen most people will expose their real side to you.  If they don't you can get most to do it if you poke, or worship them.  Everyone has a trigger that will cause them to open up either out of pride or anger.  Mr. Obama suffers from a huge EGO!!!  Give him a chance and he will let you know how important and strong he is.  Can't wait till his masters (racial reference intended, because I believe that is the way his contributers (buyers) will treat him) start running his Office for him.
