PETA Suggests Breastmilk for Ben & Jerry's
This story fits into the category of "news of the weird" for me. I don't know how on earth I managed to miss this news when it happened over a month ago, but apparently People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wrote a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield to urge them to use breast milk in its ice cream instead of cow's milk. PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman suggested that Ben & Jerry's follow the same path that a Switzerland restaurant took which has started adding food made with breast milk to its menu.
“Storchen restaurant is set to unveil a menu that includes soups, stews, and sauces made with at least 75 percent breast milk procured from human donors who are paid in exchange for their milk. If Ben and Jerry’s replaced the cow’s milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers – and cows – would reap the benefits,” Reiman wrote.
Reiman said cow’s milk “is a hazard to your customer’s health. Dairy products have been linked to juvenile diabetes, allergies, constipation, obesity, and prostate and ovarian cancer.”
So do you want your Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey to come complete with breastmilk? Ben & Jerry's didn't think so either, because a response letter to PETA said "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."

What the hell do they want to call it? Ben and Jerry's 'Just Like Mother Used to Make'?

How stupid can you really be. I always heard that two heads were better than one, but it seems these people collectively sink deeper into idiocy. It amazes me that their findings, regarding health, refute the years of medical research that I have been privy to. Also, I realize its PETA, but how would this be advantageous to the cows, don't they have to be milked? I must say, however, if Ben & Jerry's made the change, it would be a very interesting dairy farm. :-[ Let's just say, no more tours for the grade school kiddies. :o

I am going to contact PETA and sign up as a "milker". Hell, I'd do it for free.

On the other hand, if those aging uber-liberal assholes did change over, it might just put them out of business.
And yes, I know they don't actually own the company anymore, but as long as we're in fantasy-land here . . . .

My first thought was, "Man, I'd love to see the dairy that turns out that stuff!" But, after some consideration...maybe not. :-\

I would too as long as I could be in the heifer unit. Not sure I'd want to get in the main barn nearing the cull end.
Seeing as they need to calf before they "give," has anyone considered the value of working in the breeding unit ;)

I don't know what I'm worth as far as "stud" fee goes, but that would be a heck of a side job. Can you imagine the vast number of applicants... or the interview process? :D

As for the breeding dept., I'm in.
As for PETA, well... Let's just say I've got their 'meat' right here...

RIGHT HERE!!! ;D You just have to imagine the hand in groin gesture that goes with it. ;)
Has anyone else here considered that people are the only animals who are never weaned?
No wonder so many people act like a bunch of babies.
