http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/11/14/gop-senator-mccain-betrayed-republican-principles/
The conservative senator, speaking to a group of GOP officials gathered in Myrtle Beach at a conference on the future of the Republican Party, described how the party had strayed from its own "brand," which, according to DeMint, should represent freedom, religious-based values and limited government.
"We have to be honest, and there's a lot of blame to go around, but I have to mention George Bush, and I have to mention Ted Stevens, and I'm afraid I even have to mention John McCain," he said.
DeMint (R-SC) offered a long list of complaints about McCain's record in the Senate and on the campaign trail.
"McCain, who is proponent of campaign finance reform that weakened party organizations and basically put George Soros in the driver's seat," DeMint said. "His proposal for amnesty for illegals. His support of global warming, cap-and-trade programs that will put another burden on our economy. And of course, his embrace of the bailout right before the election was probably the nail in our coffin this last election. And he has been an opponent of drilling in ANWR, at a time when energy is so important. It really didn't fit the label, but he was our package."
"Americans do prefer a traditional conservative government," he said. "They just did not believe Republicans were going to give it to them."

Numerous people said the election came down to the lesser of two poor choices.
I think it just fitting, though, that once cause of Sen McCain's defeat was the horrific campaign financing law he sponsored.

Could that be the definition of "irony"?

Just Rewards.

Just Rewards.
I mentioned on another thread the idea that we scream about coruption and then can be swayed by the one that spends the most on ads (I actually said we could be bought through advertising and expensive promises).
What puzzles me is how a party that has screamed about the "good old boy system," charged that favors have been bought, and claimed that money bought position, and turn around, reject the agreement to use limited and more transparent financing, and walk right into the hypocrisy pot that they have been stirring for eight years.
McCane tried to show he was not "McSame" by agreeing not to take speicial interest money, but Obama did what his party says is wrong and was rewarded for it. It just shows that the voting majority did not pay attention to the real issues in this election. Or if they paid attention they are dumber than I could ever believe.
As P.T. Barnum said, There's a sucker born every minute.

Dude, where have you been, NY Dem's defined corrupt politics , Google "Tammany Hall" That synonym for corrupt politics was DEMs, Dem "Ward Bosses in NY and Chicago used to hand out cash on election day, "Vote early, vote often", the quote attributed to Capone, applied to the Chicago DEM machine, the EXACT same machine that put Daly and Obummer in office.

........then can be swayed by the one that spends the most on ads.................
Interesting you mention that. I've develop Rules of Thumb for life. Not many but I do pass these to my sons. Consider them hard earned knowledge. Near the top of the list: The more ads auto dealers have on TV the less you should consider buying from them.
Now I haven't verified it, but an adaptation to politics would be:
The likelihood of voting for a candidate should be in indirect proportion to the number of promises.

It would seem that those trying to separate themselves from the RINO syndrome, are getting an early start in prep for the mid-term elections in 2 years.
Conservative politicians are diluted trying to appeal to more moderate people and it consistently puts them in the loser's chair. (McCain).
He wasn't my candidate of choice, he was my candidate of necessity, because of our primary system, we got the watered down version of a "Conservative" and now we have the Obamessiah. >:(
"In short, we - or our rulers, at any rate - now make law lawlessly. Bill Clinton(insert BHO), wants to license all handguns in the United States. He affects not to know that the Second Amendment forbids the federal government to infringe our right to keep and bear arms. He doesn't ask, because he doesn't care, where the federal government gets the lawful power to require the licensing of guns. He thinks it has the actual political power to do it, and for him that is all that counts."

Something to ponder...
I was sitting here thinking during lunch and and this thought struck me ......
After all that time and money spent during the election, what actually was the outcome? ......
Another black family living in government housing!
