Title: Warhawke update
Post by: warhawke on November 28, 2008, 03:50:39 AM
Well, I guess a few of you care how I'm doing so I figured I would give you all the skinny on what has been going on.

I now live in lovely St Regis, MT. Which I may have mentioned before. I had a job working at a wood pellet mill, and boy did it suck, talk about your mind-numbing, grueling labor. I nearly tore a tendon in my arm slinging about 70 tons (that's 140,000 for those who went to public school) a night. After 6 weeks of light-duty I quit as I couldn't do the work and I stank at the other jobs at the mill.

SO, I'm unemployed, not too worried about it though as I have 16 years in the security biz and jobs are here to be had, unlike Detroit. I have been putting out the resumes and filling out the apps and should soon be gainfully employed soon.

In case I didn't mention it me and the misses worked things out, BUT she is currently back in Motown because our house was broken into (before we got out of the state actually) and due to our financial issues when we got here we couldn't go back and get the rest of our stuff like we planned. SO, she is back there taking care of business and should be back in a couple more weeks.

Due to the aforementioned money troubles when we got here, I was forced to sell every firearm I owned to pay the bills. Want to know the answer to that "If you had only one gun. . ." question is? A Spanish FR-8 rifle, mostly because I wouldn't have gotten any cash out of it (it's a bit rough, but serviceable). Priority #1 when the wife returns is to replace the heaters with the  insurance money, which really bites, given the current market (I don't know what I did in my last life, but I suspect I might have been Hitler).

In case you are interested, I plan to pick up a couple CZ pistols, maybe a couple Sig-Sauer P-6's, a couple AK's (in whatever caliber I can get the most ammo for around here) and probably a PSL for a heavier thumper. I want a PTR-91 so bad it could file a restraining order, but 7.62 NATO is just too pricey (damn it). A .22 or two and a good pellet rifle should round out the group nicely (I can get 1200+ .177 cal pellets for under $25 so grabbing 20,000 or so for practice and pest elimination just makes sense to me). I figure it's going to run me close to $5000 for the lot plus mags, ammo and accessories.

Once we get that straight we will probably move closer to Missoula MT because a 70+ mile one way commute is a bit much. The wife has a number of job opportunities in Missoula as well, which she would have already taken except for transpertation issues and this stuff back east.

It's not been a bed of roses by any means, but I wouldn't move back if you paid me! I love Montana! I will get by, it is just a tougher row to hoe than I planned, but heck, just makes it mean more.

Hopefully I will be posting more but I ain't making any promises.

Glad to hear that things are (slowly ) working out for you.  Being in a place you love makes it easier to deal with lifes crap.

Warhawke -

Thanks for the update, there are a couple of Montana folks I was getting worried about due to their silence. Bidah just posted and now your update.

Hang in there, friend, things will turn around for you. The job situation will resolve itself, but we'll keep your job hunt in our prayers for a rapid resolution anyhow.

And thanks for checking in as you can. You know how we worry . . .    :D

Thanks for the update Warhawke!  Sorry to hear it isn't going as planned and there are other pitfalls, but the news with the wife sounds like a ray of sunshine.

Take care!

Path, I am still here.  I still check on the Warhawke now and then.. :)  Be'in that he is a Montanan now.. :)  I have just been really really busy lately.  When the layoffs happen, especially in a big way in the IT industry, I generally get really busy.  I am currently in some sort of lull, but I know that starting in January it will be at least 6 months away from home..

Keep the chin up Warhawke.  It will work out and you will get there.  The last time I had to sell the weapons to pay bills my wife yelled at me.  Turned out she was right, so I don't want to do that again. :o

Good to hear from you Warhawke. Remember, He never gives us more than we can handle.  In the end you will be better off and happier.

You stay positive Warhawke.. :) There are reasons for every single thing that happens in our lives.. Spirit says that there are no negatives.. only learning lessons that are hard.. It is how we deal with these lessons which determine what kind of spiritual and earthly grade we get.
It sounds like you are going forward and you are a man with a plan.. THAT is fantastic. Can't win the  game without a plan, and the gumption to follow through.  Please keep us updated..
We do care.......... :-*

Good hearing from you Warhawke. I don't blame you for leaving Detroit. You couldn't pay me enough to live there, but all the big cities are turning into Detroit. Flint (Little Detroit  ;))  is bad and I should move too. Just remember your ABC - Adversity Builds Character, and hang in there.

Good luck, and you're already way ahead by NOT being in Detroit.
