Post by: philw on December 07, 2008, 07:17:06 AM
any one here have one

I am getting one Soon ( still on my 6 month wait till I can own a pistol, wish April would hurry up, then there is the 28 day wait for the PTA  )  that is another story though

the one I am getting I have used a few times at the range ( that is all it will and can be used for)
is anything that I need to look out for with them

so far I really like it  it is nice to shoot and I found the trigger to be nice and crisp

They seem very robust, a little too big IMO, here is a run down .

I had one years ago and it was a good pistol. It is head and shoulders better than a Beretta IMO both in functionality and features. That said I would urge you to check out the CZ75, WAY better.

A PT99 (adjustable sight variant of the PT92) was the first gun that I qualified with for a TN carry permit back when you needed to use a 9mm or a .38 according to the country I lived in. I still have that gun. They are really nice and most people find the frame mounted decocker/safety easier to use (especially one handed) than the slide mounted Beretta's. I have 2 Beretta  92's, one of which was my issued duty gun at a PD in Virginia. I really like to shoot this design, as they are reliable and the large frame with a weight close to the slide weight makes recoil management pretty easy. As a defense gun, they are big and suffer from the inefficiency of the double/single design (of course, the PT92 can also be carried single action on safe, which opens a whole different can of worms).

You should enjoy it!

Cool thanks for that Rob,

the one I am getting also has a 2nd slide from the PT99 so I get the best of both worlds :)

it is a shame it is only for Target shooting at the range as it is illegal it use guns here for self defense
I am just glad I can get a pistol here.
