Title: Looking at an Astra 1928 Broomhandle pistol
Post by: Dakotaranger on December 12, 2008, 11:00:07 PM
The local gunshop has an Astra Broomhandle pistol.  I'm looking for ANY opinions.  I've heard some negative things about Astra so I don't know if the $1000 price would be worth the cost

The Astra is a copy of the Mauser, no parts are interchangeable so if it breaks you are SOL unless you want to have a part fabricated. If you have the cash for a safe queen it is collectible but who knows how the market will shape up in the future.

I'd make sure the ammo was available as well, my understanding was the thing that made the "Red Nine's "
so much more valuable was they could still be shot
