Title: Go shoot tomorrow, finally!
Post by: m25operator on January 02, 2009, 08:56:01 PM
Alfsuave got me juiced, I have been trying to go shoot 2 new Ar builds for Months, Money, time, crappy weather, getting up too late etc... all lame. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid 70's, but windy, but a cold front happening Sunday, so off I go. Plus I have some AMU 77 grn ammo to shoot in my space gun, and I'm expecting good things. Will try to get pics of targets and the new babies. One AR was built for U.S. service rifle, with freefloated barrel under normal looking handguards and want to know how it will do.

Wish me luck.

Have fun.  I wish it would stop with the off and on rain......oh, and warm up some.   I'm a fair weather shooter.

I was going to rub it in that we are in the 50's to 70's with most days without much wind, beautiful shooting weather.  But I am not.

You did.  It's warm HERE today, 23 and the wind is only gusting to about 20 mph   :(

I'm back and had a pretty good day, temperature was 80ish, with a 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock wind, gusting at times to 15 mph, blew my scope caps off at one time that were laying on the bench, but I'm reasonably pleased, both of my scoped AR's shot around 1 MOA for 5 shots, with some real small clusters, but the overall is what counts.

The iron sight rifle I built to U.S. Service rifle specs, did pretty well too, took about 8 shots to sight in at 100 yards, this is a brand new build and nothing has been tested except headspace, it's a little rough, working the bolt, but cycled like a champ, and shot well enough to give me hope. Waiting on Momma to get home with the camera, to hopefully take some pics in the daylight, We got about 30 minutes left.

PS, left the range and got about 6 miles away when I realized that my shooting box, with my ammo, targets, Kowa spotting scope was still on the firing line. :-[  Made the big U turn, got back in about 20 minutes and all was well. ;D

Ain't it funny how the return drive to fetch something forgotten seems twice as long as it did the first time around?    ;)

Glad everything went well.

Whew!!  That was close.  I am ashamed to say the DPMS .308 has yet to be fired.  :( Maybe now that the holiday crazies are over and the extended families have all gone home I can get my priorities back in line.

The ones with 4 shots are actually 5, the 10 shot was actually 10 shots, and the 7 shot group, was me aiming at the wrong
target and put 2 extra in before I saw it in the scope.

These targets were shot with this rifle.

It's the one I built for DCM, shooting.

Cool shooting.  Cool pictures.  Glad you got out and had a good time.

We've been weathered in here for a week.  I'm itching to get my new A/R upper and fixed scope out to see how they work.

Looks like fun...we've been weathered in for a long time. In a way it's ok because money for ammo is becoming more and more scarce, but I'm REALLY hoping for one of those bright sunny days with no wind. We've got some catching up to do.
