Just got my CHL in Texas, not sure what ammo. is best to carry in my custom sig 245. Do I use any personal defense ammo? I want to get the best before I start carring!

Reliability is everything. I'd recommend the Hornady TAP FPD (For Personal Defense) .45 ACP. It has a special, extra smooth teflon coating on the casing to insure enhanced reliability and feeding in semi autos. It's about as good as it gets if you carry a semi auto IMHO.

I love the 185gr+P GoldenSaber from Remington. The brass jacket is very tuff and with 25per box it is a lot better of a deal. So you can put some through your gun and be sure of your zero. If you want something better(cause it costs more $ theory) CorBon DPX has proven itself in eveytest I have put it through, but if penatration is your thing CorBon reg. HP out penatrated the DPX in 4 different test we conducted(10 shots each per test for a total of 40DPX + 40 230gr+P HP's) every time. The jean material test penatrated so much that we lost it out of the media, backing material, and destroyed the cynderblocks that were bracing it all. Needless to say the guy which spent all his time setting it up was SUPER >:( , but whatcha gona dooo ;)

Gotta put in my vote for Speer Gold Dots. I'm sold on the bonded bullets' ability to expand reliably but not seperate after penetrating fabric/etc. and bouncing off bones and such. That said, this is one of those questions to which you'll probably have 10 people respond with 10 different brands/types. I second the comments about reliability, though, as every gun is a bit different. Whether you choose the Speers or something different, plan on getting at least a couple of boxes to test (I'd do more) - the best bullet in the world doesn't do much for you if it doesn't run well in YOUR gun. Just my $.02.

I totally agree, and i will go one futher. After testing your ammo and find a brand weight combo you like order a case of it. Working at our gunshop, I have seen changes from year to year in ammo. So if it works get pleanty of it. And if you piecemeal it, try your best to get the same lot number.
Thas my two cents but I will have to put it on my card due to the spike in ammo prices.!? GOTS NO CASH! :)
