I would think the best way to let Outdoor Life know how we feel is to contact their advertisers and let the advertisers know that their products will be boycotted if advertised in Outdoor Life.

Jim also has a program on The Outdoor Channel.

Simple truth...Jim is my friend, but this kind of nonsense in undefensible and horrifically counterproductive to RKBA.

We have finally gotten the industry to JUST BEGIN to accept and undertand black rifles, when we're stabbed in the back by a "friend."

I will be contatcting Outdoor Life Monday AM, and what I have to say will not be kind!

I will be blogging more today.

I am saddened, and angry.

I left my response, and reminded him that I won't be feeding any more Remington ammo to my "terrorist" weapons--or any of my other guns, either, as long as he speaks on their behalf.

I'll be speaking to Remington myself tomorrow!

Does Remington's 870 become a banned weapon because the SLC mall shooter used a pump shotgun?

Dumbo has now "apologized." The responses to THAT seem to be running about 2:1 saying "Too late!" We'll know the damage is done if we see his original comments regurgitated by the gun talibanners.

I bought about $200 worth of Remington .22 ammo last year. I want to see what Remington has to say about this before I spend one more cent with them.

The Brady Campaign is already running with his comments (and blocking any postings of his apology/retraction).

The damage is done; no apology is acceptable.

With the Brady Bunch picking it up... we can expect Zumbo's remarks to be read to Congress in the new Assault Weapons Ban hearings.

This could degenerate into a "You don't need ANY semi-automatic weapons" bill real quick..

here's the "Brady Blog"

Zumbo's remarks may have some serious side effects that won't go away any time soon.

Thanks Zumbo  :'(

I wouldnt be at all surprised to hear that Dumbo is a democrat and voted for Kerry in 04.

Michael,
Please let us know what you find out. I was on another forum yesterday when the SHTF and you would have thought that the world was ending.

Remington's CEO seems to be on the side of those who hold 2nd Amendment liberties so dear and I applaud them for that.

I know that Zumbo has apologized and seems fairly sincere enough to me anyway. Still I wished he would have just kept his PC quiet for the evening.

From Remington's website:

NOTICE: Remington is in the process of severing our sponsorships with Mr. Zumbo. Remington in no way shares or advocates any of the comments made by Mr. Zumbo on his blog site. A formal announcement will be released by noon today.

Snake45,  could you post up the announcement from Remington?  My IP filter here at work won't allow me to go to Remington's website.  Also,  could you post their email address so I could write to them?  Thanks in advance.  I have already emailed Outdoor Channel and Outdoor Life.

I've posted all they have up so far. If they post a formal announcement, I'm sure someone here will post it if I don't.

I can't find an email addy on their website. You can email them but you have to go THROUGH their website--one of those deals.  :(

Here it is, same source cited earlier:

Remington to Sever Sponsorship Ties with Jim Zumbo

Madison, North Carolina – As a result of comments made by Mr. Jim Zumbo in recent postings on his blog site, Remington Arms Company, Inc., has severed all sponsorship ties with Mr. Zumbo effective immediately. While Mr. Zumbo is entitled to his opinions and has the constitutional right to freely express those options, these comments are solely his, and do not reflect the views of Remington.

“Remington has spent tens of millions of dollars defending our Second Amendment rights to privately own and possess firearms and we will continue to vigorously fight to protect these rights,” commented Tommy Millner, Remington’s CEO and President. “As hunters and shooters of all interest levels, we should strive to utilize this unfortunate occurrence to unite as a whole in support of our Second Amendment rights.”

We regret having to terminate our long-standing relationship with Mr. Zumbo, who is a well-respected writer and life-long hunter.

Thanks Snake45.  Good for Remington.  I'm very curious to see what Outdoor Channel will do now that Remington has cut their ties with Mr. Zumbo.  He obviously decided to look for a popular way out on the right pro-gun guy when he chose Nugent to cling to.  Last ditch effort to CYA.

The ar 15 seems to be an awsome gun. The anti-gun lobby is trying to take this gun away. Seems dumb to me since we are at war on two fronts. It would seem smart to enable everyone to know how to use this weapon. I understand you can buy an ak47 in Iraq for about $400.00 bucks. So their people would get to practice with such a gun but we can't?

Maybe this article will end the divide between hunters and shooters.
