Distance? 7 feet?
Nice vidio but........ NO INFO.............. ???

I thought I saw 5 balls of 000 Buck in the slow motion. Gallagher needs to trade in his Sledge-O-Matic for a Judge. ;D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPrYulad8W4

I love the high speed camera...

I wathced a movie today my son brought by called Max Payne. In one of the first scenes he's using a Judge to open locked bathroom stall doors.

The women shooting the Judge in this video are much better to look at than Dick Metcalf

That's one way to do it. i wouldn't do that at the can at work though!

After watching the "behind the scenes" part of the Taurus video...I have a couple of thoughts:
- Man, that looks like a fun job
- high-speed is cool
- the cleaning crew earned their money that day
- I want one
-
It's just a fun gun to shoot. Only problem I'm having is finding any 3" buckshot for it.
btw, my local shop sold me the 3" chambered model for the same price as the 2 1/2" one.
Prices on their ARs is a bit high, but pistol prices are pretty darn good.

In one scene, the girl is firing and the recoil almost catches her in the nose. The Judge "ain't" small by any means but will do the job.
Saw it in Max Payne also.... Opened the stalls right up... ::)
Carrying it concealed would appear kinda difficult in light clothing. But a purse and/or man bag, or belly pouch would work.

At close range you do not need buckshot. 7 1/2 bird shot at 3 feet will be nearly as effective in discouraging bad behavior as buck would be. Frankly if a miscreant sees you pointing a Judge at him he will probably hurt himself getting away. :D

You might be surprised! One of my good friends has a 2 1/2" chamber Judge and we shot some steel plates with it the other day. From about 10 yards the bird-shot loads will only knock over the plates sometimes with a direct hit. To me this weapon is impressive, but for it to be successful at an anti-personnel role it needs to be loaded with either 00 Buck loads or quality .45 LC loads. The rifling is such that the shot column spins so much that a standard bird-shot load will cover a door-sized area at about 10 yards. You may severely sting an assailant, but I have serious doubts about being able to stop someone from that range.
P.S. We were using Winchester AA target loads: 1/2 oz. of either 8's or 9's.
This was the target setup:

Our 9mms, 45 ACPs, and 45 LCs would knock the plates down with ease.

The other day I ran across a Mossberg website and in testing out their 930 auto shotgun I believe, they actually did some tests of bird shot vs buck on meat from the butcher. They said even at CONTACT distances the bird shot failed to penetrate more than 2 inches. So they recommend buck always for defense. I take that as conclusive.

I was giving "THE JUDGE" ( feels manly, don't it) some thought. Then reailty hit.
1) The fact that anything less 000 buck is going to give you one of three things
A. A pissed off BG picking birdshot out of his chest (don't even talk about headshots in an OH CRAP!! scenario)
B. A blind plaintiff testifying against you later in the lawsuit.
C. A LOT of shot, each of which you are responsible for, going God knows where.
2) In 2 1/2" you only get three pellets with the buck shot and beyond 10-15' these disperse very rapidly out of a rifled barrel. Yes, they're .36 calibre, but still have a lot less oomph than a bullet of anything from .32 on up.
3) The .45 Colt is nice, but the gap between the cylinder and barrel, plus the shot friendly rifling has to degrade accuracy.
4) The thing is as big as a house. Unless you weigh three hundred pounds you can't conceal it. If I'm going to use it in the house, I'd rather have 19 rounds of 9mm from my Glock than 6 of any kind of .410.
5) If you're hooked on shot for ccw, get a Bond Arms SnakeSlayer derringer. Theyre only 2 shots, but they take 3" 000, as well a the.45 Colt. They're built like a tank, have interchangeable barrels, and ride invisibly in your jeans. I have one in .357 and it shoots (with a little practice), about 4" at 10 yds. I'm sure the .45 .410 will do as well. Check out their site at www.bondarms.com
For a fair evaluation of the judge and a lot of other cool objective tests of firearms go to www.boxotruth.com. Its a great site and they put a gun through its paces.
Personally, I said thanks, but no thanks to THE JUDGE.
