A"shooter" quality luger or a smith 617 6" ( 10 shot 22)
???
-
I've always wanted a Luger to plink with, But thats just me
-
So have I, but i want the 10 shot revo just as much.
Both are used and I'm trading work for it.
-
S & W 22 CHEAPTO SHOOT ;D ;D ;D
-
I love my 4" SS 617. Ordered the 6 shot so it would be more like shooting my 625 but they screwed up the order and sent a 10. I'm glad they did. Nice gun and doesn't empty as quick.
I've never had occasion to shoot a luger and can't really get past the appearance (just one of my hang-ups)
617 is more bang for your buck in my opinion.
-
I would choose the breasts, ER, I mean the Smith .
-
You need a side by side comparison...
...right next to each other in the safe ;D
You can do that with guns. Women on the other hand...
-
Go for the Luger. You can get the S&W anytime.

+1 Get the Luger
-
I do lean toward the Luger, because you can't always find one, especially in a trade off, but I guaranty you, you would love the 617. Do you want cool and collectible, or accurate and fun, fun , fun, not to mention cheap? Not that a Luger is not fun.

Third vote for they don't come along every day. and Lugers are becoming more scarce every day. .22 revolvers on the other hand are everywhere.
-
I have the Luger that my mother's uncle took off a dead officer in Italy. It's not that fun to shoot, but it's got all matching parts and has some collector value. It's even got some blood on one of the stocks. The 22 would be awesome to shoot, but if the Luger might even have some value, I'd probably go for it. If it's all mismatched and is only to shoot the 22 might be better. That's is quite a choice.
-
I vote for the Luger.

After shooting both and having the luger jamb atleast every other mag I went with the 617. so in 11 days I can pick it up... you know with out that waiting period I would just start killing people the second I step out the door... That Or I could use one of my 56 other firearms to do that...

My Luger is finicky too. Good choice.
-
From what I've heard Lugers are finicky about ammo and some only work with hotter than average loads.
-
The only gun I will tolerate taking "non standard" ammo is a 22 pistol.
If I can't walk down to the guns store and buy win/ rem/ what ever fmj ammo and have it work, I'm not going to buy the gun.

+1000. You will be VERY hard pressed to ever find a Luger, available to you in this circumstance ever again. Get it now, and avoid kicking your own ass at a later date for passing up this deal.
-
Love those Smiths but the Luger it would be in this case. Made a similiar decision and haven't looked back.

I have one of the older 6-shot 4" 617's. I absolutely love it. There is nothing for fun and economical to shoot. I love .22 pistols of all flavors and varieties.
On t'other hand...a Luger would also be fun.
Then again, back to the first hand.....
-
So, TAB, I don't care which one you get...PULL THE TRIGGER ALREADY!!!
-
I thought he did.
-
I would have got the 617 too. Why? They are expensive for a .22 revolver and they aren't getting any cheaper. They are one of the coolest 22's you can get. Fun, fun, fun. Can't really go wrong with it. I want one but I'll have to say up for a long time to get it.. they ain't cheap.. not to me anyway. They should last forever too.

I take it Glock doesn't make a .22 ? ;D
-
No, they don't. If they did it would be the best .22 though. Although..lol.. now there are a couple of good Glock .22 conversion kits availiable if you ever get interested.. ::)
-
I've seen the ads. If I ever get a Glock it will probably be a full size 9mm.

Umm.. that would be a wise decision. ;) Glock 9's are hard to beat. Any you would have 4 sizes to choose from s,m,l, or xl.

No doubt!......Even when they do make a mistake it really is not one because it is another manifestation of its nuanced and sophisticated engineering that is beyond our ability to understand......We are all tainted by the 1911 crowd..... ;)
Tom,
I have an Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock 30 and it works very well and I highly recommend that company should you want to get a Glock and shoot .22lr.
-
Thank's, IF I ever do, it would (start out ;D ) be for the BOB as it needs minimal maint, unlike steel pistols.
-
Had the Luger and loved it though it was prone to jamming from time to time.
-
Oh I forgot, Tom, they do not sell Glocks in New Hampshire? Just kidding. ;D

They don't have to, they rent M-60's. Thompson's and MP5's. And I'm NOT kidding ;D
-
If you can rent M-60's in New Hampshire then I need to plan on a vacation there so I can take a trip down memory lane! :o
-
$35/hr for the gun $100 a belt for ammo, But it jams A LOT I think the feed tray is to short
-
I'd be willing to pay that and then some. Full auto, not semi? That would be an absolute blast. I do not miss being assigned the M-60 in the Air Force and hauling 1,250 rounds of ammo in cans. Loved firing it though and setting the fields on fire with the tracers! ;D
-
Full auto ;D At Camp Lejuene we'd fire a burst and put out the fires, fire aburst etc.

Yeah, I'd have gone with the revolver in that case, too. In fact I've always wanted one of those S&W 617s......
