I am thinking of getting a derringer. Right now Bond Arms and NAA are two contenders. What better place to get opinions.
-
Personally I'd go with a .380 More capacity and somewhat easier to shoot as the grip is larger and easier to hold onto.

MB has talked about his Bond and that he loves it. I have no experience.

I want it to smaller than my J frame. The Bond guns look big on the videos.

The Bond is definitely smaller than a J-frame, it has it's place. I got one for my wife, when Greg 1st started making them, it's in .357 mag, and is not bad even with full house magnums. It is one of the most easy cocking derringers too, one hand no problem.
Interchangeable barrels and calibers is a +.
If you want a derringer, I would go with the Bond.

I have both, a NAA and a Bond Arms. The NAA is great, small and compact but only chambered in rimfire rounds. Nice, but grossly underpowered in a true self defense situation. Best as a back up or last resort. The Bond is fantastic and smaller than a J frame but be careful! It is not light by any means! It is a heavy gun for its size and it is built like a tank. It is truly one of my favorites, though. I recommend them both highly just consider its purpose, self defense or ease of carry. Enjoy!

Here's the link to my DRTV article on the Bond Derringer:

It is the ultimate dog walk gun!

I guess I'm gonna have to dig my way out of the snow and find a Bond to put my hands on. Thanks for the link to your article.

Here's another choice in derringers...Cobra. They run about $150. I haven't handled or shot one (or know anyone who has), but I imagine you get what you pay for. I would still like to get one chambered in .32.

When I made mention of being able to cock the derringer with one hand, it is because the cheaper ones I have handled, take 2 hands and force to cock the hammer, and usually two hands and 14+ lbs to pull the trigger. The Bond can be cocked and fired with 1 hand, no problem.

I did it. Should be here in about a week. Gun porn to follow. ;D

I'd like to have a Bond, myself.
I have (and carry every waking moment in my right pocket) a NAA .22lr revolver. I do not consider it a back-up as far as man-stopping goes (that is what my G27 is for). I load three rounds of CCI snake-shot and two rounds of Aguila Hyper-Velocity hollow points. It ain't accurate worth a damn any farther than 10-15 feet with solid rounds (I can mostly keep them on a 10" paper plate), but with the snake shot it's 'hell-in-a-harness' on the legless critters.
When I rode my motorcycle, I carried it in my vest pocket for rapid access.
