Title: Jihad is a constructive phenomenon

Eureka! Thousands of Muslims vow to combat terror!
At last, here is what we have all been waiting for: Muslims condemn attacks on innocent civilians!

I hate to put a damper on the enthusiasm yet again, but this condemnation of terrorism suffers from the same defect of so many others before it: it doesn't specify who is innocent. Jihadists believe no non-Muslim can be innocent, by definition. If this condemnation of terrorism is really designed to discourage Muslims from engaging in terrorist activity, it should specify that non-Muslims can be -- and often are -- innocent. But we still haven't ever seen a Muslim group make such a specific statement.

"Thousands of Muslims vow to combat terror," by V.P.K. Shukoor for Arab News, February 3 (thanks to Twostellas):

BANGALORE: India’s one of the most prominent Muslim organizations, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind (JUH), organized a massive anti-terrorism convention in Bangalore on Saturday, which strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms.
Attended by thousands Muslims from different walks of life at the historic Palace Grounds the convention was addressed by leading Muslim and Hindu scholars. The Muslims declared their commitment to their faith, solidarity with their leaders and patriotism.

The convention strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms including that done by terror groups and governments. The crowds also took oaths against terrorism.

Syed Muhammad Usman, president of JUH, and Maulana Mahmood Madani, a member of Parliament and general secretary of JUH, spoke how Islam preaches peace and denounces terrorism. [...]

The resolution adopted by the convention declared, “Islam is a religion of peace and a blessing for the entire humanity. Islam does not allow the killing of innocent persons.”

It also cautioned against identifying Jihad with terrorism. It said Jihad and terrorism are poles apart, while Jihad is a constructive phenomenon, terrorism is based on destruction alone....

Ah. Got it. Thanks for clearing that up
