Read about this @Yahoo.com today that a county in South Carolina offered a rose and a Best Buy gift certificate for every firearm turned in today. Turned in handguns netted the donor a rose and a $100 gift certificate from BB. A rifle got you a rose and a $50 gift certificate. It said the donors were glad to be rid of their firearms. The sheriff of the county is the same one who want to arrest Michael Phelps the Olympic medalist who was photographed alledgedly using an illegal substance. I hope they use their BB gift certificates to purchase security devices for their homes.

I thought this was the dumbest thing I have heard when it was on the radio this morning. Come on, one rose? What a rip off! but I suppose anyone who would consider it a good deal should not have a gun.
Although, it makes me wonder, is this why cities, states and the federal government are broke? Because they have asshat programs like this?

I don't know. I've got a Raven that I got new for $39, 15 years ago. I've got plenty of other guns, so I'd trade that for a $100 Best Buy cert. I'd rather do it at one of the cash for guns events - that way I could use it to buy a better gun.

Yes and No ...
I like the idea of ripping the anti's off ($100 cert for a $40 gun), but I wouldn't want to add numbers and fuel for their disarmament movement by participating.

I'll give you guys a rose and a cd for every functional gun you turn in to me.
Hey...it works for the sheriff....

My buddies and I have talked about this, Wouldn't it be amusing if someone with a FFL set up a table next
to the buyback people and offered $200 per gun. If it's a good gun, buy it. If it's a POS send it on down
the line for the sheriff to buy.

Yep. We don't want to add to their stats. I got this idea from a news report in the 90's. They had one of these no questions gun trade-ins in an inner-city, maybe south central LA, and this guy who was obviously not from the area was grinning and telling the news guy how he'd brought an old gun that didn't work and was taking the trade-in money to get a new gun. They replayed that clip for a couple of days on each news broadcast. It really made the antis look ridiculous.
I really like 1911 junkie's idea.

This item has reached the MSM here in Holland as well. According to that article the project was a success.

There is no amnesty given to those who turn in the guns..... They will all have ballistics checks done and see if it will help solve any cold cases

Who says flowers and firearms don't mix?

Some how the Troops just don't look menacing when they have polished helmets and neck ties.
