so i've been looking for a single stack 9mm sub compact or compact, i know about the 1911 styles and don't really like em in the 9mm cal. and aside from that all i could find is a Walther pps. any idea's? i've pretty much exhausted my resources, so "help me down range community, your my last hope."

Kahr handguns are pretty good. The polymer framed ones can be sensitive to stovepipes due to limp-risting the pistol. Also you have to use the slide release to chamber a round. It will jam every time if you release the slide using the sling-shot method. But the gun can run, has a reputation for accuracy, and is excellent at concealment.
Sig has the P239, but I find the grip on it to be a little thin in my hand. It does come in a Concealed Carry Package, with a holster, mag pouch, and three mags total. The trouble is really finding extra mags and they're not cheap when you can get them.
Also, Kel-Tec makes the PF-9. It's a single stack (7+1). It's cheaper than both the Kahr and Sig, but then again, it's cheaper. It's a good option if you're on a budget.

my budget for this gun is about $800 max, so i got a little spending room here. I've looked into kahr and dont really like the guns to terribly much, so their out the window

Kimber has several....a couple in your price range. I am looking at one myself after I recover from some big bills and the IRS.

The Sig P239 is not, im my opinion, a compact at all. It's nearly the size and weight of a P229 and like all Sig pistols, a little top heavy. My 1911 is more comfortable to carry every day.
It is a Sig so it's more than accurate enough!

Check out the Sig 225/P6. I carried one for years and they are just superb! They are also available all over the place for less than $300 (German police surplus guns). The Germans obsessively maintained the guns, so you can't go wrong. Check out a SHOTGUN NEWS or here's the GunsAmerica.com link for a few more bucks:

Still, even at $400, you can get the 225 and spend the rest of your money on XS sights and a trigger job (Sig does an excellent one). Sig will also install their excellent night sight package at a very reasonable price.
Another alternative are used S&W 39 series guns (later is better, say a 390...soemthing, or the current 908 series).

The kids boyfriend picked one up for about $400.00 bucks last summer. German stamped P6 with 11/79 stamped on the slide. I assume that is date of delivery or manufacture with the little curled tip on the hammer spur. Still shoots, and shoots, and shoots, and shoots, and.......accurate as it needs to be as well...

I used the 225 as my go-to handgun during the GUNSITE carbine and shotgun classes. In the 260 Shotgun, my old pal Bill Murphy, the chief instructor, noted that the 225 was the ideal "girl's gun," as his daughter has one. He also noted in a class full of cops with 1911s and Glocks, my 225 ran first time, every time...I also hit the targets...
I cna't speak highly enough of the little guns. I liked the 250 okay, but not enough to buy one. With that long long trigger reset, I started thinking that one would need to approach a 250 the same way one approaches an H-K P7 squeeze-cocker or any other "non-standard" trigger system...that is, it needed to be the gun you exclusively shot.
For the record, Sig no longer sponsors anything I do. And when they did sponsor my show, it used to drive them crazy that I carried a 1970s-vintage out-of-production German-made Sig!

I almost posted the same question. I'm seriously considering the PPS and a Kahr. I have to figure out if I'm getting a tax refund or not.
If I am, I'm getting a new pistol. I'm trying to stimulate the economy one gun at a time. ;D

I was looking at a PPS alongside a P22. They are suprisingly similar. Last weekend, we shot a couple mags from a P22 and decided that the best thing to do with the little critter was to melt it down and make some little plastic army guys with the leftovers...it's a turd! Don't think I personally would buy a PPS but it's a free country...
I'm buying a small .357 for the summer months, it's a toss up between the Ruger SP101 and a Charter Mag Pug...don't need the problems of these striker fired guns and I can't buy the Glock I want.
