Title: Colt "Offical Police" .38spl Revolver
Post by: shooter32 on February 25, 2009, 01:34:13 PM
My father inlaw has passed away and I will be getting all his guns. I have the first two, some more to come. Not sure how many yet.

The Colt has this on the barrel.

Pat'D  Aug. 5th 1884
         July 4th 1905
         Oct. 5th 1926

I have no pic's of it yet. And haven't had much luck finding out more about the gun.

Any Colt fans out there with some ideas where to look?

Lucky Dawg!  Lucky Dawg I say!

The Official Police and Police Positive are two of my favorite "old school" wheelguns.  Right up there with the pencil barreled Smith & Wesson Model 10.

Put a set of stag grips on it...REAL stag...and have someone make you a "Tom Threepersons" holster for it, and you will be in heaven.  That's what I did on a 40's vintage 5" M&P I found a few years ago.

If it was good enough for Jimmy Dagney...."You doity rat!".....
