Title: How to get a 1911 guy to love a plastic pistol

I sent my XD .45 to Springer Precision (http://www.springerprecision.com/) and had them install Truglo Tritium/Fiber Optic sights (http://www.truglosights.com/content/products/firearm/handgun_sights/handgun_sights.asp).  The sights are amazing, work like fiber optic sights in decent light and the tritium supplies light to the fiber optics in dim/no light.

I also had them do a combat trigger job on the pistol. Total trigger travel is now about .3" with almost no over travel and the pull is about 4 to 5 lbs., down from 10. they replaced the sear and trigger bar with high quality stainless parts, and installed  lighter springs. Smooth does not even begin to describe the results. This pistol for all intents and purposes has my Para P12 trigger pull. I can't wait to get it out to the range for a run this weekend!

Springer even passes on a 20% discount for Fedex shipping to them if you email for a RMA label. Good thing, too - shipping overnight ain't cheap. Turn around was great, they got it on Thursday, I got it back Tuesday. They rushed it a bit when I told them it was my duty pistol. Normal turn around a little longer on XDs, but not by much.

They do Glock work, too.

Overall happiness factor is 5 out of 5 stars, Springer did a wonderful job.  :)

Uh, pics are required after "all enhancements".........

Sounds like a hell of a package,...Recoil spring the same?

I would have to agree.  Scott does amazing work and it certainly made a huge difference.

I still prefer my 1911 though.. :)

Springer changes the trigger and sear spring with the package. He has other springs available, but I don't see a need for me ATM. After learning about 'hard' and 'soft' primers, I decided the factory settings on the striker springs are the happy medium. I have the 4" model, so the recoil assembly is a single piece.

I did buy two extra recoil assemblies though. Figured it's best to use one for practice, and a lightly used one (broken in and checked for problems) for carry, and keep the third as a spare. I'd rather just see one break at the range, rather than risk using the same one for practice and carry and having it breaking when I needed it.

I'll get some pics out soon.  :)

Bidah, I still love my 1911s more... the Springer changes made the XD much more 1911-like, if you catch my drift.
