Title: PUBLIC ENEMIES trailer
Post by: Sharpe on March 04, 2009, 04:57:49 PM
I'm excited to see this.  Looks like LOTS of period weaponry thanks to Michael Mann.

Looks pretty good.  But it's another example of a hollyweird anti gun rights putz making a bundle off guns.

Huh! I thought the mortgage scams, bank bailouts and AIG were enough incentive to rob banks. Now you're telling me that I can shoot tommy guns and get laid too? (Note how sad it is that I put those two things in that order). Where do I sign?

Damn, at first I thought the chick was Susan "The Commie Bitch" Sarandon.

Looks OK, you might want to go rent Dillinger with Ben Johnson and Warren Oates - probably a much better movie. When Johnson tries to light the cigar at the end, the look on his face is priceless - sheer malevolence.

Figured I'd bump this thread since I'm reading the book by Bryan Burrough that the movie was based on.
The book is true and well researched.
The plot is the period from June of 1933 till January 1935.
This is considered the period that made the modern FBI. The period when they were chasing, not only Dillenger, but the Barkers, Bonney and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, Machine gun Kelly, Baby face Nelson, and the shooters from the "Kansas City Massacre, all at the same time, with overlapping trails and mutual acquaintances among the robbers.
The FBI does not come off well, Naive college amateurs is a generous description, and one of the biggest names in "G-Man" history, Melvin Purvis,  is portrayed as a self promoting idiot.
The cases were difficult not because a bunch of  (JD is the exception ) midwest hicks were so clever, but because the Feds were so stupid.
Excellent book.

Women are like buses, you miss one and another will be along in 15 miinutes. Shooting a TG on the other hand may be a once in a lifetime chance.
Unless you own one, (a real full auto one), in that case we hate you!   ;D
