Play video games, talk guns, and every here and there get around to making games, when everyone's not drinking beer and bourbon. ;D  Graduated high school right after turning 17, went to college, and now I'm an ARTIST.  Video game biz is a little rocky now, but its good times.

Oh, by the way, I'm a 3D modeler.  So when you see all the buildings and guns in them violent video games, I make those.  And I work visual effects, explosions and such.  And I like my video games extra violent and extra explosioney.

I am a Sr. Automation Engineer for the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in the world. Spent the first 13 years of my 21 year career in the steel industry and the rest in pharmaceutical. I design and program automated manufacturing equipment. All that said...I'm still a redneck. ;D ;D

Jack-of-all-trades: welder, pipe fitter, plumber, electrician, hydraulics specialist, PLC programmer, maintenance crew supervisor, industrial maintenance engineer & troubleshooter ......all for an ALCOA soft alloy aluminum extrusion company for 18 years.
Some consulting work in the above areas since the plant closed while I was on leave for injuries in an accident.

The True Definion of a Redneck

    * This question I battle with every day. I have tried to answer it with dictionaries and with every resource book available. But none of them give the true meaning of what it means to be a redneck. I am now going to give you my definition of a redneck.
    * Being a redneck is being proud of your roots and a true love for your father’s name. Where family and friends are first and strangers are just a vague, dismal blur in the distance. Rednecks are good ol' boys/gals who usually live in the south (usually in the country) and also tend to have a southern accent. Their necks are red and maybe their arms, too, cause they work hard and out in the heat all day.The group that is ridiculed by most, but deep down envied by all. Some types of rednecks may be cowboys/girls, mountain men/women, country boys/gals, and or hillbillys.
    * Big truck tires, huntin’, fishin’, tractor pulls, country music, Charlie Daniels, and rebel flags are just a few words that might describe a redneck. They usually drive pickup trucks with loud sounds that can usually be heard before seen, and they also tend to blare country music from their radios. They usually add a CB radio to their truck and may have a gun rack in the back and an ol' rebel flag flyin from the antennae or posted on their front or back winshield. It is hard to figure these people out. Most people just can’t understand how you can have such a weird lifestyle of cowboy hats and buckles.
    * Many Rednecks love the ol' T.V. show called "dukes of hazzard" and western shows. They are very laid back and tend to piss people off when they drive too slow or too fast down the road in their ol' pickup trucks.
    * They love women/men (preferrably Cowgirls/boys), country music, wearin' jeans, wearin' boots (may be leather), wearin' a cowboy hat, yellin' yyyyyeeeehhhhhaaaaaawwwwww! out loud, shootin' the bull (talkin and telling some stories), fishin', huntin' watching wrestlin', watchin' or goin' to NASCAR races, watchin' baseball, or watchin' football.
    * Rednecks may also like the rodeo. They love ridin’ horses or bulls, or ropin’ calves. Most Rednecks can usually be found at or off your local gravel road, in Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and yes sometimes you can even find them in the northern states. They will be found on or near your local farm, at a bar (playin pool), local rodeo event and or stock show. The Redneck diet may include t-bone, tender loin, beef, beef stew, cajun food, Burger King, pizza, and maybe some good ol’ peach cobbler fer desert.
    * Things that make a redneck mad: somebody stealin’ his healthy horse, making a promise which you can’t keep, cuttin’ down rodeo evernts, and much more.
    * Things that really piss a redneck off is: stealin’ his cowgirl, a guy hitting a gal, a guy cheating on his gal, child abuse, beatin’ up his haas(word which means buddy), messin with his family, and much more. I tell ya, most rednecks like to fight for their woman and/or to defend their own honor. And i guarantee you if a true redneck sees you do one of the things in this list that redneck will whoop your @$$ right then and there
    * Rednecks know how to treat women. Rednecks know how to respect, love, and care about gals. True Rednecks love females for who they are and would never cheat on them. A True redneck would never hit or injur a female. White trash lies to females, cheat on them, beat them, get them pregnant and then leave them.
    * How can your friends be more important than yourself? This might be a question from a typical non-redneck. Where the outdoors are loved and where blue-collar labor is not looked down on but a way of life. Where hard hats are worn instead of pocket protectors. Where steel toe boots are worn instead of nice loafers. Where blue jeans and a flannel are preferred to a nice coat and tie. Rednecks are the people that make the world go round!
    * What a Redneck Isn't
    * I have already explained What a redneck is, now I feel it necessary to explain what a redneck isn't. Most folk out there, sittin on their high and mighty social horse feel that they can group folks they see as uncultured or undesireable as rednecks. This shows their lack of knowledge and ignorance.
    * For example, these people interchange characteristics of white trash and rednecks. I will admit that it might be possible for a redenck to be also white trash, but this is not to be taken for granted. And some characteristics are no longer apply or might have never applied. I will attempt to rectify this.
    * 1. White trash, or more correctly, trailer-trash live in trailers...not rednecks. We more commonly inhabit run-down, partially constructed homes or log cabins.
    * 2. Rednecks are not lazy, incompitent, laggards. Those incorrectly grouped with us that do fit this descriptions are more commonly called "welfare-trash". It must be noted that being on welfare does not automatically make one trash, merely down and out and nothing to be ashamed of. Rednecks and white-trash are the ones that built this country(and that aint figurative).
    * 3. The inbred stereo-type is old and over used and can no longer be considered humorous or accurate. Those that use this description have confused us with "European Blue-Bloods"(now there's some trees that never branched! They didn't call each other cousin for the hell of it!!!)
    * 4. Rednecks are not stupid. In the bountiful ignorance of most cityfolk, they have confused ignorance with stupidity and proven my point themselves. There are old rednecks in these hills that never went past the second grade that have more knowledge in the head than most of those acedimic boobs that profess to be "educated". Once had some of these fellers poken fun at me for miss using an economic term, but when I asked them a question, damned if any one of 'em knew how much hardener to add to a golf ball sized helpin of body puddy!! Guess they must'a just been stupid??

ABYC + NMEA Certified Marine Electrician, I work in and on the big yachts that I'll probably never get to afford. (Unless I hit the Powerball) ::)

I am the "sparky" that repairs, upgrades, and refits all the electrical bells and whistles on them.

Based on the accurate definition of "Redneck" posted by PegLeg.

    * Being a redneck is being proud of your roots and a true love for your father’s name. Where family and friends are first and strangers are just a vague, dismal blur in the distance.

I am a card carrying member of the the Redneck Society. 8)

Didn't mention I have a degree in accounting when listing in my previous post.....the 'roughneck' mill-wright work paid better at the time and I just stuck with it until I worked my way up into the engineering and PLC programming side of it.

My hat's off to you PegLeg.

I too am a graduate of the School of Hard-Knocks. I had some vocational electronics in high school, which got me a job as a panel builder. Then my company was short-staffed...so I got sent to a steel mill to help do a startup on a blast furnace. I took to PLC programming like a duck takes to water. But, more importantly, I learned how things work in the real world.

I refer to myself as a college educated redneck. I have an undergraduate degree in finance and an MBA. I am a data analyst for a large hospital in the northeast Florida area. I do work with programming languages (mainly VB) and statistics programs to answer questions from management about something they should already know but really do not want to know the answer about......

LOL.  ;D  I think I'm going to hell for laughing at that.

I'm on total and permanent disability from GM, but I don't get social security because there's nothing wrong with me.  ::)  That's okay. I can start collecting it in 20 years if it still exists. I was a TPSA - Technician, Press Systems, All. That's just a fancy way of saying I was a combination press operator, conveyor attendant, welding machine operator, and whatever else they wanted me to be. Not skilled trades, just grunt work. I drove an electric tow truck for awhile until my back blew out, then I went back to being a TPSA until there were no more jobs I could do with my medical restrictions.

Went into the USAF right out of High School, ruined my knee and was Honorably Discharged. Then I went to work turning wrenches(Automotive & Diesel engines) for a bunch of years until I blew my back out. Got retrained fo Armed Security, worked for 6 years as an Armed Guard/Driver for an armored car company. Burned out on that and am now working as an Assistant Manager for a national oil change company,I'm supposed to start running my own store sometime in the next couple of weeks. We'll see how that turns out.

And we all forgot what the number one major is in college: Psychology.....But at my alma mater the largest graduating class was in education. I knew something was fishy when I saw over 80% of the graduating class graduate with honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, sum cum laude). In contrast those of my former major, Computer Science, 5% graduate with honors and the average GPA is around 2.XX. If this is indicative of what goes on at most liberal arts universities and colleges today, it is no wonder we have stupid teachers and we trail the rest of the developed world in science and math. I'll get down off my box now.....

"Thanos,

Or can you actually BALANCE a check book ?

I don't balance a checkbook. I spend less than I make. It is the easiest way to keep from having to do anything.

I am a freemarket Cheapocrat. i want the market to find me the least expensive way with the best options. I think the governemnt cannot and should not delve into economic problems unless they are in the black. My reasoning, why are we taking monetary advice from a pack of asshats that every year spend more than they take in, approve budgets that are always more than the last year for the same service and estimates are ALWAYS low and sometimes as much as 400percent?

Name one thing the governement does effectively that is positive?
I can think of nothing, they do an alright job on the military, but only because they are the only one in the business.

Water maker, 25+ years.

Being on our community's utility commission the first thing I thought of was operator of water filtration plant.  Then the guy in me kicked in and I'm thinking professional or recreational (very little difference between the two) beer taster/consumer  ;D

Actually I should say water treatment, but some time over the years when people asked me what I do for a living I started to reply that I make water.  You would be surprised at how clueless many people are about where their water comes from.  At the facility where I work we treat water from Lake Michigan.  I had one guy tell me that "no he didn't drink water from the lake because fish swim in it".  I have no idea where he thought the water came from that came out of his faucet as it did come from our plant.

I use to be a beer taster, not professionally, but one of the top ameratures.

There are a lot of stupid people in this world. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to not be one of those people.

Spent 4 and a half years as a Air Force Security Policeman/Armorer. Worked 4 years at the Sheriff Dept. and divorced the Major's Daughter that subsequently ended my Law Enforcement career. Spent the last 13 years in the automotive industry as a elected union official representing almost 7,000 workers. Was an alternate Health and Safety Rep. Now, I am currently unemployed after taking a buyout. Have college degrees in Criminal Justice and General Studies along with a certificate in Supervisory/Management. Thought about Law School but I can't stomach lawyers.

Work as a Help Desk Analyst for a large international I.T. company some of my clients are actually US bases (Washington and Virginia). Been doing this for nearly 5 years. Before that have had a myriad of different jobs before ranging from an apprenticeship when I left school to working in a hardware store (best job to date - loved working with power tools oh oh oh more power).

I am not sure what qualifies for a Redneck but I am pretty sure I qualify on many points  ;D . I am from the far south, I shoot, hunt and fish, I own at least a couple of firearms for every day of the week, I dont mind a bit of willie nelson, gretchen wilson and think jeff foxworthy is shit hot! I like Nascar, V8's and think beer should be drunk cold and "Jack" is the nectar of the gods. I believe in my family, my friends and others come after that, I believe in freedom of choice, respect my country and those who have fought for her and contiinue too and cant stand smiling, lying and cheating politicians and most lawyers. I beleive in serious jail time for serious offenders and the death penalty for the most serious crimes including rape and paedophilia, I also believe that 2-5 years to try a obvious guilty person (ie charles manson and ted bundy types) for a crime such as just mentioned is a joke when 5 minutes and a rope, or a .50c piece of lead will solve the problem permanently. If thats a redneck hell send me the tee shirt.

You have no idea how true that is.....I am a firm believer in having a phone based IQ test before the caller gets to speak to a real person. Most calls are what we call ID TEN T errors or commonly known as ID10T's.
