Re: Steel Cased Ammo Question
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well the "official" word is in from Mike Eagleshield over at CZ regarding steel cased ammo use. Here it is in its entirety:
"I have never seen a case of extreme wear, due to the use of steel cased ammunition. I have seen the lacquer coating build-up
inside the chamber area, to a point of causing faulty extraction. Nothing a good cleaning wouldn't cure, which I highly recommend
after using steel case ammo. Due to the fact that the steel used in both cartridge cases and bullet jackets, is of the mild variety
they will not wear the chamber or bore anymore than brass cased cartridges or jackets. The official word is no. You are not hurting
your P01 by using steel cased ammunition. You should give the barrel a good cleaning after each use, to prevent lacquer build-up."
Thank you Mike Eagleshield for getting back to me so quickly. I should mention that Wolf no longer uses lacquer but has a new "Polyformance" polymer coating that has been working really well for me.
