I was thinking the same thing that was a little too close.

I am not going to pick this one apart...it would take too long.

I am just glad the lady and her child weren't hurt.

This one is a case of "should versus could".

Totally legally righteous...but.....................

Armchair QB-ing is not going to do anyone any good unless you were there.  Initially, baby + firing gun in close proximity;  BAD.

This guy could be a IDPA member, an NRA certified instructor, graduate of RP's school, someone who is confident in his ability to hit the target,  The point is we don't know.

He saw, drew and fired. 3 shots 3 hits, no charges.,..... BG in prison, somehow not dead ???

This is old news.

I think the angle of the video makes tha shot look more risky to the bystanders than it was.  The guy is obviously on target to hit a moving man 3 out of 3, so it was not too close for  his skill.

Worse tho, the guy reportedly went on to post macho "I got the SOB" type videos showing "Cowboyish" gun handling (no offense to Cowboys intended at all).  I saw none of them, just read the reports.

Everything else aside.  He lived to go to jail!?!?!?!

Hopefully everyone thinks real hard about that one for a while.  Take from it what you want, I think the guy shooting did good.  He handled that gun pretty confidently.  Probably still got sue'd by somebody!

Interesting.

I think the angle makes it seem closer to the baby than it really was. I noticed that he didn't sweep anyone (other than the BG) with his muzzle. Seems to be fairly well trained. I don't know how sound the logic is on drawing against an armed BG, but it worked for this guy.

I personally don't think I would have made the same choice. I probably would have given the guy the money and let him get the heck out of town.

If you watch close, he draws after he has moved behind the clerk at the counter giving the appearance of moving to help her.  He was cool and showed skill.  To bad he was such a jerk on the vids he made afterwards.

There was also concern that he continued after the BG started to run, but the prosecutor determined that the BG could have been moving to a different shooting position.

It turned out the BG had an unloaded gun and no prior record.

As a rule, You can't out draw a trigger finger...   If you can draw from concealment and put your 1st shoot in center mass in 1.5 seconds... your doing DAMN GOOD.

Shame there's no sound on this.

If you look close enough and read their lips I think all the guy did was ask them to change a $20!  Jeesh!  Cut back on the caffiene buddy!

This is a very sobering video. Very happy the shots were on target and innocent bystanders were not hurt.

I live in Ohio and this video became available the week before I attended my CCW course.  It was much discussed and analyzed in the CCW community here.

Sorry if my relaying some of the findings has upset you.  Have another glass of milk.

"Never give a bad guy the first shot. Never give a bad guy a fair chance. Never turn your back on a bad guy."

"Always draw on a drawn gun, and do it quick. You may as well die fighting. And who knows, the bad guy may be a bad shot!"

He draws from behind the "large" clerk...

What would be the odds of anyone, ever using any kind of weapon for anything that couldnt be critiqued to death after the fact?

The end result here was as intended.  No inocent's were harmed, BG stopped, crime thwarted.  Fine work!
