Title: Combat Focus Shooting on This Week's SG!
Post by: Rob Pincus on March 23, 2009, 12:26:58 PM
Everyone in CFS World is really looking forward to this week's Shooting Gallery, which is focused on the Combat Focus Shooting Program.

We taped this with MB and the SG team at the Whittington Center late last year and I think it is really going to turn out great. The show features some of the Top CFS Instructors from around the country discussing and demonstrating key components of the program.

Thanks MB!

Looking forward to the feeback here at the forum!

That was a great show.  Now I can't wait to go to a class.  Hope they get one close to me soon.  I'm in middle TN.  Did I see a video on CFS on your web site Rob?

Great show on SG this week!! Done very well in that short of a time frame. CFS is a class we all should take.

Do we need to shave the dome and grow a goatee ??? ;D

MB was the only one with hair ;)

From what I have seen on both the SG episode and some of the videos, CFS seems to make good, solid, natural sense.
React to and focus on the threat.

I also have a couple of older NRA videos featuring Rob, from back when he was still at Valhalla. They were good videos also.

Rob, when I eventually do get to take this course will I have to shave my head? I got the facial hair going on for me but I keep my hair short. I do get it cut every two weeks almost high and tight style. I just look to damn mean bald.  ;D

Oh yeah, great show by the way. I did notice while watching "American Guardian" that the US Army Marksmanship Instructors are using the "Up" command and extended the firearm forward with the touch and press method. Did you advise them on their training or are they borrowing from your Combat Focus Training?

First:

While we were taping, I realized that I our CFS line-up did look like a bunch of clones....  If I had been thinking diversity, I'd've had one of our female instructors, a minority or two and maybe even that one guy with a pony tail....  ::)..... At least we didn't all wear the same shirt.

Next:

As for "Up!", I got that from an outstanding instructor and friend named Hector Martinez (R.I.P.). He was a Marine, and lead instructor at a combined school run at an Army base. I'm not sure where the use of that word as a standard command started, but I've heard it off and on over the years from guys with diverse backgrounds.... certainly not my invention!
I've never worked with the AMU, but I did see that segment on AG and it was a good one.

Does anyone know were online I can order some "SEB" targets? Evere since I got one of Rob's Combat Focus DVDs I've been looking for them. Then I saw thim use some of these targets on this episode of SG. I've just been taking paper plates from the kitchen and numbering them. But, you can see the problem here..there all the same size. And......the wife says she buys them for us to eat off of, not for to pump them full of holes...lol. Anyway I figured someone here would know where I might could find some.

Thanks

LE Target Company..... when I can't get them to a range, I use any "Q" type target and some spray paint to re-create them.

Dharmaeye,
If it is the same DVD that I  have in my library, it is definiteley worth reviewing. Rob goes in to a little more detail on the Combat Focus Shooting system. Wich IMO is way more practical then most systems out there. After studying this DVD and a few others, I've started to plan my trips to the range. I use the drills I learn form TBD and these DVDs to "structure" my range time a hole lot better.

Rob,
I definiteley hear you on the spray paint. I've used several cans my self, as well as a few packages of sharppis and paper plates. I have......."had" access to a large media ploter at my office. THe boss did'nt like the fact that I was CADDing targets...He definiteley did'nt like me using up a role of 36" wide paper printing them. But, Thanks for info on the targets guys, now I know were to get'em. ;D

I used to wait until the boss was out playing golf on Wednesdays so I could use the engineering departments plotter to do the same thing.

That is a great link for the targets. I really like the ones Rob uses for CFS.

I'm currently building a personal database of printable targets. I've bought some, found some free ones, and drawn a lot with Auto-Cad. Maybe one day we can start a free target section on DRTV.
