This is on our local news here in South Florida. Happened Tues.

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Miami Police are investigating a double shooting that left one dead at a Burger King Tuesday afternoon.

According to Miami Police, there was a robbery attempt at the Burger King located on 54th Street and Biscayne Boulevard at around 4 p.m.

Authorities said a man with a ski mask went into the store and a customer tried to stop him, which led to a shootout between the customer and subjects. "This individual was armed, he pulled out a gun. It was a good Samaritan that was inside of the Burger King, that has a concealed weapons permit, he confronted the robbery suspect, at which time shots were fired. The robbery suspect is confirmed dead," Miami Police Officer Jeff Giordano said.

Authorities transported the customer to Jackson Memorial Hospital with multiple bullet wounds. He is in stable condition.

At the rate Floridians are getting their CCW permits, I hope it makes the BG's think REALLY hard about the career choice.

First off, amazing nobody has posted to this since this morning.

Secondly, I hope the CUSTOMER who shot the bad guy is OK.

Lastly, am much as we have planned it out in our heads.   How many of us would have stepped up at that moment?

It's retorical, no response required.

All the comments are on target. I really do hope that the details come out. My local paper (I'm about 60 miles north of Miami [not far enough]) indicated there were multiple shots fired. They didn't indicate anything about the citizen except that he'd been taken to Jackson Memorial, which is never good news because that's the University of Miami's med school, and you don't go there for a skinned knee. I think we all, at least I, learned a whole lot from watching that hotel robbery caught on video. I'll check the Miami Herald over the next few days and see if more details emerge, because this seems to be one of those could/should situations Pincus talks about. The more we know about the details, the better equipped we'll be.
fightingquaker13 once again missing Texas

The customer, with several gunshot wounds, was in serious but stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

If you read the comment section, don;t miss Texas too much, as they would probably do the same.

from Green Mountain, I know it is rhetorical,...
How many of us would have stepped up at that moment?

"It's easy to be brave from a distance."

6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in this world.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun to shoot to kill someone. I carry a gun and would shoot as necessary to stay alive. If the assailant dies as a result of a desire to harm me, it's no loss to society.
