For those of you who might have always wanted to join the NRA but never did. Here is your chance. The information below was sent to me today Friday, March 27, 2009 in an E-Mail Newsletter from the Buckeye Firearms Association http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/ (http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/) I hope you find this to be useful.

NRA now offering FREE "Bonus" memberships!
If you're not yet a member of the NRA, or if you have friends, family, or children who haven't joined yet, this could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get memberships at no cost.
Sign up now!
http://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/ (http://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/)
To prepare for coming battles to protect our Second Amendment rights, the NRA is offering what it's calling "Bonus" memberships to rapidly swell their ranks of pro-gun Americans. These memberships are for 1 year, come with all the usual benefits of membership, including a magazine, insurance savings, and discounts at many popular businesses.
We don't know how long this special offer will last. They certainly can't do this forever. So we recommend that you act immediately to avoid missing out.
You can sign up yourself, your wife, kids, friends, neighbors, nieces, nephews, and anyone you think should be a member. But please, do it NOW!
Go to the NRA Bonus Membership page.

I’m suspicious of this offer.
I went to nra.org to see if I could find details of this offer. In addition, the page the provided link goes to contain NO links to go to the NRA Home Page or nra.org. There is no link to explain the program details.
All you can do is activate the radio buttons.
BEWARE!

There is no need to be suspicious of this offer. I just called the NRA Membership Department at 1-800-672-3888. The Customer Service Rep(Ann) that I spoke to said that the offer is legitimate. She also said that the http://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/ (http://www.nrahq.org/nrabonus/) web site is a link off of the NRA Headquarters Web Site and is also legitimate.

Source code in the pages look clean no nefarious redirections

I stand corrected...I'm glad it checked out.

The SSL certificate jives. I've had to set up a few of these for clients and I know that GoDaddy is pretty particular during the certification process.
-
What the heck...I signed up through it. I'll let you guys know if I start getting bills for things I didn't buy. :P
Figured it was time I joined...since I've been giving them money to renew my certifications anyway.

Awesome, now my wife and daughters are members. While I was at it, I re-upped for another 3 years. When work is good again, I'll have to get the life membership. It'd be pretty sweet to go to the polls on election days wearing the Lifetime member paraphernalia.

What do you get? I signed up for a life membership with the payments, do I get a hat or something when I make the rest of them? I figured I could pay it off sooner than they want and it is not that much at $25 a month. Heck, I hate wearing hats, but I would wear that one to the polls.

I don't think that you actually get anything, but their online store offers lifetime member items. I just want big block letters that say "NRA - Lifetime Member". I'd probably get a couple of stink faces with that in Southern California.

When I went from quarterly to paid off about a year ago, I got a hat and a jacket, plus a certificate.
Also, there is a program through the end of March to upgrade Life to endowment for $300, and to upgrade standard memberships owned by family members to Life for $200. Only a few days left on that one.

'Mornin Pathfinder. Where did you find this offer? I looked, but all I found was the $500.00 deal.
Mac.

What I got was occasional offers of free NRA merchandise (leather jackets, knives, etc.) as an incentive to pay the balance off in a lump sum when you have reached certain plateaus.

Path, We would all be interested in a Life membership for $200! Where is it?

Hope the floods and blizzards didn't get Pathfinder!! Global warming indeed!

When I got this offer, I understood it to mean you could upgrade your "Life" membership to "Endowment", but if I'm wrong, let me know.

Life to endowment was in an offer mailed to Life members I guess back in November. I got an update about a month ago in the mail.
The $200 Life is for family members of the already life member. If you want the $200 Life, I'll adopt anyone who buys my rifles in the Classifieds for listed prices - and throws in one of their own (my choice) too. ;D (we need an evil grin emoticon . . . Haz, you on this? ? ? ?)

The wife got signed up yesterday. ;D

When I topped off with my final payment on 2001, the membership packet had a nice certificate, member booklet, life member patch, two decals, a life member hat pin, and a very nice CRKT skinning knife.
