Title: Michael Soon to be Back in Real World...
Post by: Michael Bane on August 18, 2007, 09:32:06 AM
...or as much in the Real World as I ever am!

One more day of filming — the Steel Challenge "Fastest Man Alive" competition — today, then I'm home for THREE WHOLE DAYS!

I'll be a lot more visible when I get home.

Handicappers are now evenly split over whether we give away the money in the OUTDOOR CHANNEL/Sigarms $30,000 80-Second Challenge. Hey, I got a big check...I'm good to go...

Sounds like you gained some weight out there in CA land.   ;D

You know, given that I ate every meal out, I probably DID gain weight! Back to the bike! And the rowing machine in my office.

Pretty cool at the Steel Challenge (although this AM I have to inform my employers that we gave away $20K! over the weekend!). My color commentary Mickey Fowler, certainly one of the greatest competition shooters ever, said that Max Michel's performance on Five To Go was the single most flawless stage he had ever seen in his years of competition. It was art.

Had new Aimpoints — including a Micro — waiting for me when I got home...cool! I'm mounting the M-4 on the impending Stag carbine I'm going to be using in a couple of classes. The Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T is moving to the J.P. Enterprises super rifle. I'm halfway thinking of building an Open gun using the Micro...depends on how much "spare" money I have lying around (which right now doesn't look promising)...

Anyway, GREAT to be home!

I will be doing a public appearance at the DUCKS UNLIMITED FESTIVAL in Oshkosh, WI (http://www.outdoorsbest.com/dugof/), this Friday..so COME BY if you can!

Darn, I was hoping you'd swing buy my area (only an 8 hour drive from OhGosh) and film me taking my defensive shotgun class.  :P

Michael,

I'll be curious to see how that M-4 holds up. I had a class with Pat Rogers about a week a ago and he was shooting a M-4 on his carbine and the integrated mount came loose. Pat made a comment that sometimes it really is the equipment that's the problem and that Freddie Blish was going to be getting a call later that day.

For what it's worth, I think LaRue Tactical is already working on a replacement mount.

I'm interested in the durability of that mount as well...we'll see. I've got a La Rue QD on the M2 on my S&W, and it is a workhorse.

BTW, did I mention how blown away I was shooting a Micro Galil? MUCH nicer gun to shoot than an Uzi in a similar-sized package.

Great little buzz gun!

Something else I can't have...

I just saw a Knight Mfg called the PDW. 6mm with a 10inch barrel.  If they made it in semi it would be a great home defense / car gun!

I Know!  Wouldn't it be cool if a semi version came out legally as a pistol, then add the folding stock as an aftermarket.

And I agree "I'll take two, please"!  ;D

Speaking of rifle stocks for a pistol, does anyone make them (like I've seen for some black powder types)?

I'd get one for my redhawk if is was easy to add / remove as needed.

On my budget it is much more likely to be a Walther G22 Bullpup.  :D

Huge negative on the G22. the P22 pistols are great but those G22s have a lot of problems out of the box.

U R so rite!  I saw the NRA Television show Wednesday and got the hotz for one of those 6mm Knights.  I don't even know if they  have semi-auto models....because I've got to wait until I recoup from the PS-90 I've ordered to go with the Five SeveN I have!  BTW, I'm gonna see if I can stick some of those 30 grain moly-coated Bergers through 'em by mid-September and let ya'll know what they chrono....plus see if the moly helps the penetration process on steel.

And then, I also saw the SASS on the same NRA show about Knight...so I'm lining up on the 6MM in semi-auto (if it exists) and a SASS if Knight sells them to the public in semi-auto.  Well, hang it, I saw an SR-25 I need so...it's in that long term line up as well...Oh yeah, I forgot, the 6MM is in the line behind the AR-10 I've got a hankering for.  The Guns & Ammo TV show with the M-1A failing to get into battery because of some mud pushed the M-1A to the back of the list and the AR-10 just behind the PS-90.

Looks like the some of the unfired Commerative Winchester 94's need to find a home outside of the gun safe to make other acquistions possible ! ! ! !
