I was perusing gunbroker and just like eBay I'm always looking for the Gotcha....or the incredible deal that isn't so incredible.
This headline reads "380 ammo 150rds .380 ammo new production lcp"
I thought, really, bullets and a gun......hmmmm.
The description and photos say nothing about a "new production lcp".
The bidding seems high but maybe I'm just jaded getting my .380 ammo for 15 bucks a box.

380 is especially in short supply.
-
The current bid is 120.00 dollars for three 50rd boxes,...
That's $40.00 a box, which is what most are offering for the same ammo.
JUST to SSS (Start Some Sh**), that's what everybody else is charging. .380 is ridiculous, and why I finally bought a FN9.:
AMMO PRICES!
Speer Gold Dot (20 rds. box) close to $38.00 :o/ used to be 20 bucks,...
It just sucks all the way around,...

I think he means 'new production PMC', not LCP. Yeah, .380 mmo is in very short supply, was at Cabelas today and picked up some 45 LC and some Remington 45 ACP. Four empty slots labeled 380 auto.
My local gun shop refuses to gouge on prices, so when it comes in, ammo isn't ridiculously priced. No love on the 380, though.

Would that be the store in Hamburg? I try to make it there whenever I'm in the area for work.

Yep. Love Cabelas, wish I could get there more often.

He might have put LCP in the title so a search for a LCP would hit on his ammo. Someone is looking for an LCP, they are going to need ammo, so their LCP serch shows them ammo also. In auctions many people will put popular search words in the title to give their auction more exposure. It's marketing like putting goods on the endcap or in the check out line. Not saying this is what he did, but may have been.

BINGO!

Prices for .380 if you find it is astronomical. Paid $84 for two boxes two weeks ago. I was lucky to find it. :(
-
I was appauled at the thought of this auction, but I was lucky enough to have stocked up on most of our ammo needs recently. Tonight I checked Cabella's and EVERYTHING is backordered. Seriously....everything I've checked.
So. We'll sit back....bide our time and them BUY as MUCH as we can AFFORD next time we're in the gun shop.
-
Sorry guys, there is no way that I would pay that much on 380 ammo. I would put the gun in my safe and wait until the prices came back into line. Use another gun in say 9, 40 or 45. You say you don't have one in 9, 40, or 45. BUY ONE! Don't get ripped off by dishonest ammo dealers. Just my 2cents.
-
Supply and demand...
supply is very low, so prices are $$$$$$. its alot like when the HMR 1st came out, every one wanted one, guns were otu there, ammo was not.
-
It's not like they don't make the stuff anymore! I talked to a small gun shop owner the other day. He told me that he is still getting the same amount of ammo each month that he has allways been getting. It's just that it sells in two days instead of 30. He's not paying more for it. He's one of the few dealers in the area that is not jacking the price up, just becuse it's selling fast. When the buying frenzy dies down and ammo is available guess where I'll be buying it?
-
Hey folks, that's capitalism. I wish it were my auction!

Interesting......I've been asking my local Gander Mountain store in Middletown, NY for 2 months about .380 Hornady Critical Defense ammo and each time I get a guy more clueless than the other. Each one stares at me with a vacuous look on his face. No one there has ever heard of it and all they do is point to an empty section on their shelf that used to house .380 ammo. They are absolutely clueless. You are lucky to have a Gander Mountain that knows what they are doing and has the ability to place ammo orders.
Further, If you want to look at a gun in this Middletown store, you should expect to wait at least 25 minutes minimum to get a clerk to come over and assist you. While you are waiting at the counter all you hear is the phone ringing incessantly without anyone EVER picking up. If you are there for two hours you will hear the phone ringing without a single pickup in that two hour period. I am not exagerating either....they are a disgrace. Last time there I started counting the rings out of pure boredom while waiting for a clerk......each time the phone rang a minimum of 60 times with no answer. Then seconds later the phone would ring again.....same thing......and again......and again.......my head was pounding when I left. I vowed never to enter that store again. Their priority lies in BSing amongst themselves in the back of the store while no one serves the customers at the counter who simply get fed up with being ignored and leave. No wonder they never sell anything except ARs and always have the same tired old vastly overpriced stock on their shelves.

I agree that their service sucks, but you can order online.
