Earlier we discussed the NRA's increasingly suspect stance on the 2nd Amendment as currently reflected by their support for expanding The National Instant Criminal Background Check with HR2640 (The so-called NICS Improvement Amendments Act).
If the NRA fails to act in the best interest of members they must be corrected with the same vigor any gun control organization receives.
I thought it might be useful to remind people just how predatory the NRA can become EVEN toward it's own members when they act outside the OFFICIAL NRA Envelope. This little tale from North Carolina might be of some interest:

In this month's issue of American Rifleman, they spend a huge amount of time defending their position, poo-poo-ing the rest of us, and completely gloss over the fact that they, as a 2A organization, should not be supporting Brady at all! The only fix for this awful, unconstitutional law is to eliminate it immediately, along with a whole mess of others.

OK...thank you for the opinion and heads up. I'm going to read my copy with this in mind. If there is weakness, we need to get rid of it. The membership has been known to show up at the NRA National Meeting "with ropes". Might be time to schedule a reservation for next years' meeting.

It is extremely important for us to remember that it was the NRA who orignally, in 1995, began the push for the National Instant Criminal Records Check System. At that time Sarah Brady and her anti freedom fanatics called it an abomination and rediculous. The rational of the NRA, was to eliminate waiting periods, by having a national database of people who have committed such acts as to give the right to own a firearm. As of August 1st, I no longer have to make an extra trip to the sheriff's office in my county and pay a fee to prove that I am an honest law abiding citizen. I can now walk into my local gun shop purchase the long gun or hand gun of my desire and conduct the entrie transaction in house.

Good historical perspective....helps me get over being too lazy to think.

With all due respect, those who trade Liberty (and the Constitution) for comfort and security will soon have neither.
Prior restraint(guilty until proven innocent) by any other name stinks as much whether it occurs in the Sheriff's Office or in-house.
