I have a question for the Bushy experts. I bought my Bushmaster back in Oct, and due to military travels was unable to really look at it until now. I got the last one on the rack, another guy was waiting on approval from his minister of finance (wife), so I snaked it. So my question is this, the barrel is marked 8 MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR and the lower is stamped MOD XM15-E2S. I couldn’t find this model on the website; I assume it is a heavy barrel 20”. I did not intend to buy this, but I assume this is good? I am kind of excited about this setup, since it was not what I thought I was getting. I only paid $885 bucks for it, which I assume is a good deal? It is an A3 model, under lug with a bird cage. Thanks in advance for your reply.

It is actually marked "B" (not "8") MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 H BAR. It is authentic and you did well.
The MP stands for "Magnetic Particle" (a testing method standard that the better AR barrels have). The 5.56 NATO indicates that you can shoot both 5.56 and .223 ammo. The 1/9 indicates the rifling twist (1 turn in 9 inches which is better suited for light to mid weight bullets whereas 1/7 twist can better handle heavier bullet weights) and the H BAR indicates Heavy Barrel, as you thought.
Hope that helps.....enjoy your AR.

I got all but the HBAR, but that is what I assumed. I just couldn't find that config on the website. But then again, I am not so bright!
Thanx for the reply CDR.

I built am AR using a lars lower and A3 bushmaster upper. The upper has the same marksing yours does, the 1/9 twist in this gun favors 62grn 556.
