Savage Announces New Flagship LE Rifle for 2009
SUFFIELD, CT -- Savage is rolling out a new modular sniper system in 2009 that elevates the top of the line in law enforcement for the company known for producing the most accurate factory rifles available.
The Model 10 BAS and 10 BAS/T are based on the proven model 110 action, built on a modular aluminum chassis that features the same three-dimensional bedding system included in the company’s new AccuStock. This system accepts most standard AR-style buttstocks and pistol grips, allowing the user to customize his bolt rifle to resemble his autoloader.
“In the serious business of law enforcement, the most important qualities your gear can have are dependability and familiarity.” Savage CEO Ron Coburn said. “Savage has always made bolt-action rifles you can depend on. Now we make one the AR user will be more familiar with too.”
The 10 BA will come in two configurations the BAS with an M4-style buttstock and the BAS/T with a target-style, multi-adjustable buttstock that borrows from Savage’s Model 12 Palma target rifle.
Other features include: AccuTrigger, 10-round detachable magazine, 24” free-floating, fluted heavy barrel, proprietary Savage muzzle brake, and an oversized bolt handle.

You can only get the 10 round mag on the 'space' guns!

Look on the Savage website at the rifles just above these, the 10 FCP. It's basically the same rifle with a standard style stock and detachable box magazine. It doesn't say if the mags are interchangeable between the rifles though. That would be good if they were.

Wonder what they will cost ::)

What I don't understand is if you offer it in .308, then offer it in all the .308 based calibers (.243, .260, 7mm/08, .338F) Same with 30-06. It's a simple barrel swap.
I think I'll stick with the more basic of models for the time being. (Of course the Mega-millions is $130Million for Tuesday).

Was I the only one expecting a Youtube video, guy and a gal, maybe given the word "savage" (as in "Oh, you thavage!") a gay one?
OK, just asking
heading for the corner along a very well worn path these days. . . . .

I bet Tarzan was a savage lover.

I hadn't done any retailer searches because of exactly what you guys told me ... It'll go on the wish list :'(
So many toys and so little cash.
However, I'll bet it is a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet shooter just the same ;D

Figured I'd trap at least one person with that...............catchy title, eh? ;D
Went to the range today and three of the guys were prepping for a 600yd match at Ft. Benning tomorrow.
Makes me want a heavy barreled .308 even more than I already did.
My son's both have Savages in .243. Maybe I'll just swap them for something and order a new .308 barrel and problem solved.

under 2k for something like that aint bad when you look at a "real" M24's cost. I'd think the Savage would readily out shoot the M24 to boot!

Qustion? Other than tacticool (and useful but not necessary stuff), like bipods, adjustable stocks etc., What are you buying over a stock 110 with accustock and accutrigger? Both have the free floating barrel and internals? Is there any reason to drop the extra-green, when you could add a lot of things aftermarket as desired? THis is purely rhetorical as those mean SOBs at savage hate lefty's and so I can only look on enviously.

Not so.
Follow the original link and look at the 10FCP LE rifles right above the BAS rifles (about the middle of the page).
Basically the same rifle as the tactical, but with a regular stock...........
And they have them in "wrong-handed"...ooops, I mean lefty models too.

I wish they would have just made a normal tube gun chassis instead of the 3 piece stock.
