Micahel,
Have you or do you think you could cover holster options for deep concealment like the Pager Pal or Smart Carry on one of your shows?
Also, what is your opinion of the Safepacker by Wilderness?
-
I unconditionally recommend the SafePackers!
I have a bunch of them and use them all the time.
I'll look into the pager holster!
mb
-
I'll second that on Safepackers. Been using one in the SUV for years..."oh what's that, your dayplanner?"
-
Thank you.
-
I have seen a lot of guy's opinions on the pager pal system and about 95% of them have been negative. They say that it is nearly impossible to draw while sitting down and it is tough to draw while standing up.
It is a innovative design, but not very practical.
-
It is fairly simple to decide whether or not a "Pager Pal" might work for you.
1. Stand up, and let your gut sag.
2. Look down without bending over.
3. Can you see your belt buckle?
IF YES: Try a Pager Pal. Try it before you buy it.
IF NO: Forget about it. :'(
-
Well I do not have a sagging gut and I had a hard time getting the "Pal" to work. It is in that box of useless bit of leather that most of us have. I was trying to keep a Kahr PM40 in it and man it was just uncomfortable. For that pistol I have since turned to pocket carry using a simple Nemesis pocket holster by Desantis. I like this holster but after seeing the DRTV show on pocket carry and all of the other types of holster available for this type of carry I will be getting a different one soon. Also i used the Cell phone attachment for the Pager Pal and it nearly destroyed my phone. It snagged on a seat belt and almost ripped the holster out of my pants. Instead it threw my precious (and expensive) modular communications device to the ground! Think twice before the Pager "Pal" it ain't your "Pal" at all!

Good to know!
-
The Pager Pal was the biggest waste of 50.00 that I have ever spent. The only good thing that came out of me buying it was that I could lend it to everyone that thought they wanted one so that they could realize that they too did not want it.
-
norfdet,
I could not agree more with you, the pager pal was a huge waste of money except for the fact that it has allowed me to save many friends some money.
matthew26,
In regards to the pager pal, in all my years of concealed carry I have only once been called out as carrying and it was, consequently on the last day I wore my pager pal. Obviously many of my colleagues and friends know I shoot competitively and although I would never admit to having a CCW I guess it went assumed. One day a friend noticed the bulge and called me out on it. I went to the car and switched it into my "day planner” which was my plan B for carry and I would adamantly suggest not to purchase one.
Hope this helps,
-Jose

If I could find mine it would be worth sending it around to everyone that thought they wanted one so they could try before they buy. The gentleman's agreement would be that when they were done they would be that they would have to send it to the next person who wanted one so they could try it for themselves. It would be interesting to see how many people it would reach and what their opinions were. Now if I could just find it.
-
norfdet,
Maybe I should look for mine and just send it to Bane. That should really get us covered. Mike, you game? He can then send mine off to our friend matthew if we have not managed to disuade him yet. How many of us has he persuaded to look into LaserGrips, just imagine. Unfortunately, no LaserGrips for my Keltec P3AT, not sure how they would add them anyway!
Just as an aside. I carry in an RJ Hedlely holster http://hedleyholsters.com/ and really love it I use the Right handed back pocket holster although I tend to carry it in the front pocket but with nice dress slacks it really allows almost no printing. Not to mention RJ was very nice. Just to throw another idea out there.
Hope this helps,
-Jose

Speaking of endorsements, I ordered my Mika Pocket holster tonight. He has already sent an acknowledgment and it should be here in about 10 days. Now that is service and solely from recommendations from this site.

Hi norfdet,
Mr. Mika is wonderful to deal with and he will keep you updated with e mails regarding when your holster will be ready to ship as well as when it ships. So did you go for the rounded or square version pocket holster?
Regards

Rounded. :)

My dad, a friend of mine and all tried out a Pager Pal. It was uncomfortable with a medium size gun like the GLOCK 30, Beretta 9000S, Republic Arms Patriot, Kimber Ultra Carry, or AMT Backup 45. Particularly while sitting. I use the Smartcarry at least once a week, and don't have any problems with it.
-
I don't think I will shell out $50 for a pager pal after reading your reviews. For that and what it's worth, thanks!
-
With a gun Walther PPK or Kel-Tec 32/380 size, It may work wonders. But Back in the first days of TX Condcealed carry, he tried one with his AMT Backup 45, and later his Kimber Ultra Carry, with instant dislike for it because it's Terribly uncomfortable. The gun digs into you. Sometimes the holster does, too. When My friend and I turned legal age, we wanted to get our CHL's. My friend's dad and the rest of us were at a gun show, and they were looking at Pager Pals. My dad told him before he bought one for his Beretta, he'd let him try the one he doesn't use, and if he liked it he'd sell it to him for $25. Well, he didn't like it. If you're gonna Go with a holster like that, I reccomend the Smartcarry. My G30 conceals PERFECTLY with the smartcarry..... Given the Pants aren't too tight, that is. This is just a friendly bit of advice from a guy wh's used them.

Thanks to your recommendations I ordered and promptly received a Mika Poket holster for my 642. Works as expected and can reholster easily.
The thing that suprised me was unlike my FIST or Kydac pocket holsters, both of which work OK, you do not have to push on anything to get the gun to come out of the holster smoothly. You do not need to adjust your grip. It really doesn't want to move once it's in your pocket.
Thanks again

8) Glad I can contribute something of value to the community! I actually was surprised this week over on www.glocktalk.com because I found a post on there where somebody was ACTUALLY A SATISFIED PAGERPAL CUSTOMER! He used it with a Taurus model 85. Another thing about that holster, Who wears a stinkin pager anymore? and who EVER wore them on the front of their pants?? Good to hear about the Mika Holster. I may buy that one when I get my S&W 649 for pocket carry.
-
I love the Mika pocket holster I got about a month ago. Really simple, but it works great! Thanks for the recommendation, Michael. I got the rounded one.

I agree with norfdet on pager pal, BTW nice to see you here norfdet.
