What is the standard distance for .22 cal. target shooting

An (ahem) older man used to regularly plink orange clay targets on our shooting club 100 yard range from a rested position atop
a picnic table using an iron sight Ruger 10/22(?). ( I cannot really recall) It was a vintage gun of some sort.  He frequently hit the
clays two or three times before they broke, so we never knew his score from the firing line, we had to go  out and examine the
clays. Good shooter, good eyesight, never saw him shoot anything else, though he seemed to know alot about firearms.

Best regards,
