In some of the shows where you get to cycling and lights it seems like the basic manipulation techniques are similar. Is there any advantage. I would love to see a bit more on use of these.
The ATM show was great. My wife has started watching the show with me and it has really helped us with thinking about being in condition yellow. She is a good way from thinking about carrying a pistol in her purse (pepper spray) and she has a little maglite which seems a lot like having a kubotan.
The challenge with these is it is jammed in the old purse, when do you get it out. For a guy with a kubotan "key ring" it is just in the front pocket. So I guess that is another part, not just use but access etc.

The flashlight is, in my opinion, a better choice than a Kubotan. I travel all the time and take a light everywhere. Kubotans are recognized as a type of weapon and don't pass scrutiny as easily. Lights also have the capability of blinding an attacker from a distance and being used to search darkened areas before you walk into them. By using the light to "activate" your awareness, it motivates you to put in your hand and look around--exactly what you should be doing.
Good lights also have pocket clips that make them easier to carry than a Maglite dumped in the bottom of a purse.

Thanks, I was just browsing your book selection and plan to order the video but the website isn't secure so will have to do via phone or something later.
My wife runs a more organized purse that dumped in :) Problem with the stock 2 AA maglite is twist on operation but that can be amended. We have been building out our supply of more tactical lights though.
Thoughts on Krav Maga as a discipline?

Hi Metamurph, I am not affiliated with Stay Safe Media, but wanted you to know that their site can be accessed under their SSL certificate. Ok Mike I have a question concerning tactical lights what about one like say the e2d (what i carry). I hadn't thought about it until just now that could be misunderstood as a weapon could it not

Crenulated surfaces, like those on the E2D, are low profile enough to fly under the radar. However, there are some attachments out there--and some off-the-shelf lights--that are obviously weapon oriented. Like anything else, if you give people a reason to consider flashlights a weapon, they'll start doing so. They'll also want to legislate them, restrict them, and do all the stupid stuff they do with guns and knives.
Like everything else, crenulation in moderation is fine...

While I carry a Kubotan everyday, (and would like some more formal training with it), I like the flash light. I typically carry a good old surefire G2. Sure, its polymer, but bright enough to blind and hard enough to make the BG think twice. The good news is, while Kubotan aren't airplane legal, flashlights are G2G when flying.

To be very honest, I have not done an exhaustive search of everything that's available. I usually catch up on what's happening in the industry at the IWA show (the European equivalent of SHOT), which is less hectic than SHOT.
With that said, I have been VERY happy with my Insight HX120. When I was with BLACKHAWK, I had a Gladius and liked the strobe feature, the dimming feature, and the mode switching, but I would never carry it on a daily basis because it was too big and had no pocket clip. The HX120 is much smaller and tucks in the pen pocket of my carpenter's jeans perfectly. Its mode selection is all based on operation of the tailcap switch, and with a little practice, it's almost as fast and versatile as the twisty tailcap switch of the Gladius, but without the issues associated with its magnetic switching.
