I have not seen these spots playing, but then again its not one of my favorite channels.

This is a question I have asked before - Where do you/we draw the line? I don't care when these commercials came out, but in my opinion we are closer to this today than two years ago (not that we might not have been headed down that road under Pres. Bush).
I'm not making tin foil hats, but ever since high school history I've asked what if it happened here. Of course learning about the Holocaust and taking firearms safety happened the same week, and joining the NRA and Ducks Unlimited (gifts from my uncles) happened the same year.

If they are still running these spots. (I gave up on MTV a loooooong time ago), they need to remember it was a Liberal City called New Orleans, that instituted what the commercials portray.
Now we have the "most liberal" POTUS and Congress.
Ironic for the MTV hippies to figure out. (The hippies will be the easiest to round up first.)

They are anti Israeli Pro Palestinian ads. What is shown is actually 2 separate clips that were run a year or so ago, the last shot of both has been left out it was a line about how the Israelis were doing the same thing, There was a third one as well but I could not find it on You tube.

Now we have the "most liberal" POTUS and Congress.
Ironic for the MTV hippies to figure out. (The hippies will be the easiest to round up first.)
I've heard it said that the Left should be the ones most vocal about our GOD GIVEN SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS, because a tyrannical shift would come from the "Right". Present situation aside, I understand that the statement is (pardon the pun) outta left field, but I just thought it was a unique viewpoint that most leftist have a hard time dealing with.

I 'troll' on a VERY lefty site. EVERYTHING they atttibute to the right (media control, lies, wanting to control the people, censorship, etc) are things that are OWNED by the left!

This kind of thing happened in a mountain town here in Colorado a couple of years ago.. An EMT called the Sheriff when a father refused to allow his son to be taken to a hospital. The son had fallen and hit his head, the father a former Viet Nam medic determined there was no problem. Later friendly men in black SWAT gear came by unannounced, broke down their front door, and took the home over. After being examined by a doctor, it was determined that the boy required no medical attention.

I didn't see this when I posted above.
Will all due apologys to the LEOs here, I fail to see where a situation like this where a SWAT member would actually partake in that sort of silliness.

The mother of an 11-year-old boy abducted by SWAT team members and taken to a hospital after he was bruised while horsing around is warning members of her community of the "Nazi" tactics she endured, including a statement from the officers that her "rights" were "only in the movies."
The case involves who injured himself while trying to grab the handle of a door on a car his sister was driving. He slipped and fell to the pavement, hitting his head. His parents treated him for the injury and rejected paramedics' demands that they be allowed to take him to a hospital.
Nearly 36 hours later, SWAT team members broke into the family home in western Colorado near New Castle and took Jon to a hospital, where a doctor said the family should keep ice on his bruise, exactly the treatment the family already had been providing.
Tina Shiflett, Jon's mother, has written a letter to the editor to a local newspaper, the Post Independent, "to awaken, alert and appall any who read it and hear the bells ringing."
"A fully armed SWAT team broke into our home, slammed my children to the floor face down with their hands behind their backs and shoved a gun in my daughter's face and handcuffed her…" her letter said.
In a separate letter to WND, she elaborated a little more fully.
During the attack, she wrote, "One (officer) grabbed my daughter Beth (18 years), who also had a gun to her face, slammed her down and kneed her in the back and held her in that position… My sons Adam (14) and Noah (only 7) lay down willingly, yet they were still forced to put their hands behind their backs and were yelled at to keep their heads down.
"My daughter Jeanette was coming out from the back bedroom when she was grabbed, drug down the hallway, across a couch and slammed to the ground," she said. "The officers then began throwing scissors and screwdrivers across the room (out of our reach, I suppose) and going through our cupboards.

"Mandatory Reporting Laws" bring this stuff on all the time. Not always to this extent, but with all the people that are deemed mandatory reporters by the State the Government can take control of nearly any family they wish.

These type laws were used by the "Organs of State Security" (KGB) to force Soviet Citizens to inform on each other. American Police call them "Cooperators", The rest of us call them "Rats".

I was thinking (hold the jokes please)... Is there a need for SWAT at all? This will hijack the thread, but SWAT didn't show up until the late '60's. After they get budgeted their share of the local tax base, they had to justify their existance.
Save for a few larger cities and then it is a stretch, there is not an overt need for a specialized unit like SWAT. Patrolmen with carbines should suffice. (A book to check out Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America). Some have argued that the Waco debacle was an effort to justify the ATF's budget. (You can talk amongst yourselves.)
