Handgun Control Inc, err, I mean Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is really pushing HR843 with their latest missive to "members".
We need Brady criminal background checks on all gun sales to help protect you, your family, and your community from gun violence. Since gun shows provide the venue, advertising, and audience for so many of those unregulated sellers, this is the obvious place to start.
A couple of obvious things.
1) Is it a Freudian slip, or are they just boasting credit for NICs, when they say a "Brady background check"? Shouldn't that be an FBI check?
2) They're after all gun transfers. Which is one step toward registration then confiscation. And they freely admit this is just an easy first step.
3) This is also a 1st Amendment fight since what they're attacking initially is the right to peaceably assemble. The gun show "organizer" is the one who is going to be saddled with these onerous restrictions. And future "raids" and arrests will come not for illegal "dealing" but for illegal "assembly".

The first 100 days had the "little" jabs at gun control to feel us out.
Now that the 100 day headache has passed, IMHO the next push will be at multi levels, microstamping, "the gun show loophole"
registration, AWB, foreign ammo imports, etc,.. all at the same time.
I hope the response from "our side" is putting fire in us all. The worst is coming...

On one hand I'm very glad to have been wrong about any push to pass gun control during the first hundred days.
On the other hand, given the "probes" that were tried, I worry that the next 1,361 will be much worse than anything anticipated.

The massive response to the probes is the only thing that has stopped them sofar. Lenin said "Probe with the bayonet, if you find steel withdraw, but if you find fat drive it home."
