Hi folks!
We are getting close to the NRA Show (2009 Annual Meeting and Exhibits) in Phoenix. We will have a film and editing crew on the floor on Friday and Saturday and a NRA video player will be set up for the event.
I will be producing the event with Michael and Tupelo as "floor runners".
We have a lot to cover, but will give the input from forum members high priority.
So.... what do you want to see here on Down Range from the NRA Show?
-
I would like to see if anything new is happening at the Whittington Center!
-
Surprise me!
-
I hate to be a wet blanket....but, I don't want to see any new neat stuff because it's just going to take way toooooooo long to hit the shelves. I'm still waiting for most of the new stuff from last year. Still haven't seen a LCR.
JMHO

PS: Probably should add.....just kidding!

Just thought of something for real! I'd like to know from Springfield when their compact and sub-compact XDM in 9mm will be coming out.

An in depth interview with LaPierre / Cox on current activities, suits etc. and an in depth out line of 2A defense strategies in the face of BHOs possible treaties (not laws but treaties) with the UN and Mexico. Treaties are essentially over the constitution in power.

What Haz said!
As much as I like the toys and personalities, I think the issues and battle side of NRA is more important today.

How about an explanation of why the NRA is backing (or at least not fighting) changes to the Tihart (sp) statute!

MONEY. They can't raise funds without a threat.

Bane says there will be a big unveiling from Ruger.....
Got to race down to Boulder to pick up a big ole Ruger box this AM and get to the range...once again, a spectacular new product announcement scheduled for the NRA Show...and, of course, you'll see it as it happens on DRTV Friday.

Hit on target! Answers would be much better than products that are not even available anyway.
-
I agree with everyone about the battles of gun rights issues but, since I love revolvers,,,,,,, how about them being shown more than the semi-autos. I am disabled and do have 3 Glocks but when the osteo sets in,well my revolvers go with me. rich642z and a Ruger LCR owner.

I havent read everyones reply on here so I may be crossing up a little, but really I just want pics of the event. Of new stuff, stuff we already even might know about but maybe more pics of the product (example: more of the new Colt 1911s)
Also it would be awesome if we could just here a few words about whats going on right now on the hill. What is our money in the NRA going towards specifically. Whats new in the Heller follow up cases. Is there anything we need to get behind right now to stop any kind of ban or is there something we need to show support on right now. Cause I feel if there is going to be an AWB we must all unite at once and show strength right out the gate. So if there are any other issues we need to do that with now. Ammo?
I know Michael mentioned it before on the Podcast, but if we could all get some feed-back on Ammo. No point in having a gun with no ammo. I remember Mr. Bane one time said on a Podcast that the new fight of the future is going to be over ammo. If they cant get the guns go for the Ammo. Are we seeing some of that right now?
I understand war time commodity prices go up and people are stocking up on ammo more know than ever, but how much of all that is really affecting prices and availability compared some sort of pressures put on the Ammo companies. If they are literally selling everything they make to the point that there is none available at times then why cant there be extra shifts at the ammo factories to fill the gaps.
Also, like gas, I understand supply and demand causes prices to go up, but is there an end in sight? or will we soon be paying 100 dollars for a box of 50.
I am honestly more afraid than ever that our government is going to strike out at civilians and god forbid another civil war, but we are becoming a nation more divided by the day, Americans are being called terrorists while the real people who are at the center of causing terror and unrest in our society are sitting in the top chairs in our government. And I hope the NRA has a plan to help guide us to leaders that will fight for our cause. Its not all about guns its about keeping our rights, we give up guns what next will they take our speech will they make us become Muslim. So I just want to know if the NRA has a plan and is helping to find good candidates for our future. Next presidential election we need real candidates not someone we have to vote for cause he/she is the lesser of two evils.
I think this is a little too indepth for what you wanted but I kinda went off on a tangent. But it felt good to get it off my chest.

Back in the room for an hour or so... and we are listening.. Hopefully we will have enough time to ask these questions and get some real answers...

My wife and I went up for the weekend.
More black guns than you could shake a stick at. Not that I mind. I just thought it would be interesting to compare an NRA meeting of 20 years ago and the guns and stuff there to what was at the annual meeting this year. Probably very, very different. The black gun guys all started to look alike. They all had "the best, the most accurate", etc., etc.
I gotta say, I was really smitten with the KAHR guns there. I want one. The P9 fit me like a glove. But seems like I've seen negative posts on Kahr's? Comments?
Talked to most of the ammo and bullet manufacturers and complained about not being able to buy anything. They were pretty much tired of hearing the complaints. Hornady guy told me that they had almost tripled their employees trying to to keep up with demand.
I don't know how many they were expecting, but there were a ton of people there!
It was fun. Really expected to go to the convention area for half a day or so, and ended up spending about 14 hours over 3 days there.

My son and I went on Saturday.
It was definitely worth the 64 mike round trip and the $12 parking.
I finally met Marshal and Marshal'ette Halloway at the NRA Meeting after all these years of working for them at CAS City. I was not the least bit disappointed. Felt like meeting up with family at the Meeting, instead of meeting face to face for the first time.
Too bad we did not have more time to spend together. What a great couple! I am very happy to be associated with such fine folk, but they had taping to do, and me and my son wanted to see all the new toys!
Checked out Ruger's booth real good and walked away wanting several of their guns. I'm thinking a new SR9 is gonna be in my future.
Really enjoyed the day!

My wife bought a PM-9 Kahr after she decided the Glock 19 she wanted that I gave her from Christmas (with earrings in the gun case, of course) was too large tote around in her purse. She went...on her own mind you...looking on the internet and shopping at Lash's Gun Emporium in Tulsa...came home with the Kahr and loves it. Hundreds of rounds...no failures.
I shot it...it's a really solid performer. They recommend 200 rounds before carry to break it in. It's super, the right size and solid. I'm getting wound up to buy a Kahr 40 cal here in a couple of weeks for a carry gun...I really like them.

As far as I know the only negatives about KAHR is that the Owner is the son of Rev Moon of the Unification Church (Moonies )

The ironic thing about the Kahr pistols.....they are made in Worcester, MA about 20 miles from where I live. The Chief of Police in that town is a real PITA about issuing carry permits to his citizenry. The POS even tried to make a local ordinance to prevent people from carrying pocketknives without an FID card.
I looked into them because their local but changed my mind because, like S&W, they seem to get a pass when it comes to making the so called "Approved Firearms" list in MA. That and I find them really overpriced for what your getting and takedown is kind of hinky! Never had the chance to hold one because no one ever has any in the stores I frequent.

You said PM-9 which is the smaller one. My pinkie finger falls off the grip on this gun, and I thought 9mm maybe is just too much for this small of a gun. So I'm very interested in your experience with it. You don't find it too much? The P-9 I can get all my fingers on, but of course it is bigger, so proportionately less concealable. You're looking at 40 in which size gun?
Thanks

The daughter picked out a K-40 loves it.
