Title: Special "Make - a - Wish"
Post by: ellis4538 on May 06, 2009, 06:28:30 AM
Just heard on the local radio station that a 6 1/2 year old girl, with a brain tumor, has a special wish and the "Make - a - Wish Foundation is working to make it come true.  Seems this young girl has great taste in musicians because she wants to see Ted Nugent!

What an awsome wish!  I'm sure once Ted hears about it he will do all within his power to make it come true.

FORT LAUDERDALE - A Palm Beach County girl is getting a rock star send-off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport today as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida sends her to meet rock star and outdoorsman Ted Nugent.

Brianna Curry, 6, of Jupiter, is battling a brain tumor and became of fan of Nugent by watching his reality show "Spirit of the Wild" on the Outdoor Channel.

Make-A-Wish Foundation officials say Brianna even enjoys the rocker's music.

During her wish vacation, Brianna, her parents and 4-year-old brother will spend four days in Texas during which she'll meet Nugent on the set of his program at the Spirit Wild Ranch in China Spring.

However, before the flight this afternoon, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Airlines, the Broward County Aviation Department and the Broward Sheriff's Office have some special plans for Brianna.

Brianna and her family will arrive for their flight in a chauffeur-driven limousine and then be escorted by sheriff's patrol cars with lights flashing and sirens blaring.

Once inside the terminal, Scribbles the clown and sheriff's deputies on lighted scooters will take Brianna and her family to their gate to enjoy cake and balloons before the flight.

Additionally, the Sheriff's Office Airport Rescue Fire Fighting team will celebrate the flight's departure with a water cannon salute.

Very, very cool. I am occasionally proud of South Florida! ;D ;D ;D

having seen the show a few times... I again have to ask, who would let thier very young child watch it?

its not the hunting aspect of the show I question.  its been awhile, maybe he has toned it down...

Given the fact that she has a brain tumor TAB, I really think that harmful media images are the least of her parent's worries. If the kid wants to watch hard core porn or listen to Rush Limbaugh while smoking cigarettes, at this point, I'd let her do it.

TAB has a valid point. Would you let your 6 year old kid listen to Nugent singing Wang Dang, Sweet Poontang?

Only if she walked into the living room when I was lstening to it. ;D Seriously, I get TAB's point and I agree in theory. BUT as I pointed out, the kid is terminally ill, what she wants, she gets because there's not gonna be any "maybe when you're older for her :'(.

My youngest daughter is only 5, but I wouldn't want her listening to Cat Scratch Fever or Wango Tango. TABs got a point.

On one hand, I want the girl to get what she wants. On the other, I'd rather that she pull through and not listen to this.

Just because Ted was/is known worldwide as the "Motor City Madman", give him a little credit.
I'll wager that he will be a perfect gentleman.
That's what makes someone a 'real' man......knowing when to be wild and when to be a little tame.

Good on Ted.

I understand that point, but that is not why she wants to meet him or spend time with him.  She wants to meet him because of of his show on the Outdoor Channel.

The man has many sides, and she is drawn to him for his hunting avocation.

I agree with M58, It dosn't say she likes his music. She like his show.
