Alright Philosophy guy,...

I can defend myself in a life threatening situation, does this mean I should? or should not?

"Does not matter what it is........."

Blanket statement,...

Maybe I'm missing something,.....

My personal peeve of this topic is Human cloning. I was born an American WASP, that puts me at the top of the "discrimination pyramid" I don't want science turning me into a second class citizen. Also, every manufacturing process generates a certian percentage of reject parts that get tossed, what do you do with your scrap when it is "human" ?

I have been faced with a drunk coming to my home to do harm. I ran him out and prepared my 12 guage in case he returned. 30 min.s later he did, with two friends. they bust through my door (it was the middle of the day and was unlocked in a nice quiet Texas neighborhood) and were immediately turned around by the barrel of said shotgun. I did not want to shoot, but I was about to. had they not turned around (haven't seen any of them since, either) the first one would now be dead. could I have shot, oh yeah, but I didn't need to. did I call the cops? no. because in the first encounter the guy left, I prepared myself because I did not know if he would return, I thought that calling the fuzz was premature, how do you explain it? no harm was done the first time. though I now realize that it would have been a good idea to establish a documented history of the guy trying to come into my house. anyway, it turned out well. and should I have shot the bastard? probably, it turns out he used my name and info to get a car loan. oh well.

The simple fact of humanity is, if you can do something, ALWAYS means someone will.
