I ran a search and didn't find nothing, wasn't going to scan through 80 pages of topics. And what about the new members? :'(

Part of the growing pains. As we expand we not only get more views, and more friends, but we get to do the same thing we did last year. Not neccessarily a bad thing, but just when a really bad one goes away you hate to see it return ... not saying this is a bad one.

Actually not a worthless piece of shite. Shite, yes, worthless, no. He can buy and sell you, me and everyone who kicked his ass in highschool with what he finds under his sofa cushion and don't think he's not laughing about it. Its sort of like Bill Gates. I, for one, am damn glad I never gave him a wedgie in gymn class.

No, he could NOT buy me...personal wealth and SELF WORTH are two entirely different things. I would think that you, with your high dollar education would understand that...maybe I'm wrong.

Again Timothy, you are missing the giant honking sarcasm alert. The guy is a punk and I don't assume anyone here is for sale. Dude, it was joke about how the high school loser gets rich, and mocks everyone who made fun of him. Its getting warm up there. I think there might be a striper with your name on it. Go fishing and chill out man. ;D

Here's another nod for _Matewan_. It is a neglected gem. People think times are tough now. They have no idea. Once upon a time Americans were literally dying to keep their jobs---even the worst job that could be had: Working in a coal mine.

Boot camp of Full Metal Jacket.. After boot it went down hill..
Quite easily some of my favorite movie minutes and I concur with the exception of the Colonel and Private Joker:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VHKpGJX29s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VHKpGJX29s)
"...Why don't you join the team and come on in for the big win."
There is so much good dialogue in that movie.
-
One of the best scenes was in the church with the 2 mine owner thugs in the back, and the young kid as the preacher knows that something is up but cannot act with the thugs there. So what does he do? He tells the most original, interesting and wildly hysterical version of the story of Joseph in Egypt as if it's gospel. The looks on the people's faces are great as first they wonder what he is talking about, then realizes he is warning them. That is priceless.
Great, slow moving, wonderful movie.
-
I realize this is a "Favorite Movie" thread but I thought I'd throw in here...we don't actually "GO" to movies much but we went out last night and saw the new Star Trek. I'm no trekkie by any means- I watched the tv show when I was a younger person and saw the movies- they were just ok. The spin off tv shows were just ok too.
BUT.....
If you liked the tv show or you have some nostalgia for it, this new Star Trek might just do it for you. The youngsters they got to play all of the old characters are great...at first I thought the Kirk guy was just a pretty boy, but he actually came through the movie nicely. The other characters are also well represented, and the guy who plays Dr. McCoy might as well be Deforest Kelly- he looks, acts, and sounds JUST like him.
All in all it's full of effects, LOTS of action, and by the end you feel like it's the old Star Trek back again.
-
Let's see....favorite movies, eh?
The Matrix Trilogy
Ronin
The Kingdom
X-Men Trilogy
Iron Man
Original Star Wars Trilogy
Just some I like, too many to remember and I don't want to hog the thread. ;D
-
"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and any movie that Hugh Grant's in.

-
Braveheart
Lonesome Dove
Man From Snowy River
-

OK ... I've admitted to not thinking real clear today, but I can usually figure most things out ...
My head is spinning, and I don't get it ???
-
OK some scripts are great, but HOW they put "action" into how some "backround actors were treated" and have seen & done with "tudes"
-
Thanks ... Think I got it figure out now.
Unneeded BS added for the sake of adding it or lack of understanding of how it should be done ...
-
You got it in a "nutshell" sorry to have "broke the news" so bluntley but that's how is is...
P.S So many of today BIG films (starting 1995 WERE ACTUALLY FILMED IN CANADA)lower wages etc.. DON'T GET ME STARTED

Hey lettyinreno,
First and foremost, welcome to the forums. Still a newbie myself, but it's great to see others getting involved in here.
Secondly, I have ABSOLUTELY no clue what you said in the last 3 posts.
It's got my attention and I would love to know what you mean. Some more clarification for the slower members (AKA. myself) would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, has no one said The Outlaw Josey Wales? One of my top favorites.
-
Dawn of the Dead (original and remake)
The Kingdom
Blackhawk Down (Can't wait for the Killing Pablo movie)
Saving Private Ryan
Shooter
The new Star Trek
Cloverfield
Dodgeball
I can't believe nobody has mentioned TREMORS all 4
Punisher and Punisher: War Zone
Max Payne
-
Lettyinreno, to be honest, except for people in the business I don't think any of as we are watching give a crap if unemployed loggers in BC are getting paid below scale to portray people somewhere else, the scenery is awesome. I will agree with your complaint about action or "message" taking precedence over historical accuracy, but I'm in to history, most people aren't so much and probably don't give a crap about that either.
Andy Warhol's Frankenstein is a must see movie.
-
Uh, Tom...
That didn't help either. Still confused. I think it may be time to turn off the lights and pull up the covers.
-
The reason so many "American" movies are being made in Canada is because Bush clamped down on lumber imports so OUR loggers would keep their jobs. However it put most of British Columbia out of work so the only work available now is either growing pot (supposed to be THE BEST in the world) or catering to American film makers looking for locations with beautiful scenery. But ,since they are otherwise unemployed they work for wages lower than the US Screen actors guild scale.
-
Garand4life, Are they making a MOVIE of "Killing Pablo" ? I'm still trying to find the book.
For the rest of you who may not know, it's another Mark Bowden book, about how they took down the Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Its a great read. I taught the relative of the Colombian presidential candidate he killed (Escobar, not Bowden). I apologize that I'm spacing on the name, it'll come to me when I'm done typing >:(. Anyway, outside of being very vindictive for a good Christian person (shocking for a Colombian, I know), they provided a bit of back story as to how he got actually got killed. If they are to be believed, it was not the marksmanship of the Colombian police, but rather a "Somali Pirate Special" courtesy of Delta. Its a geat book. Try used on Amazon, you won't regret it.

PS Anyone who read the unedited version of the post, please don't quote it. I would say I am being paranoid, but this is Colombia, and I fucked up by posting what I did. :-X :-X :-X

They are. Not a lot of information about it out now but I know Chris Pine who played Kirk in the new Star Trek movie is in it. Should be good just like Blackhawk Down since Bowden will be in the mix again.

I missed the editing above, but in the book Killer Elite (also a great read) they also allude to the "Somali Pirate Special". Much of the work mentioned in the book was attributed to the local agencies where actions took place. The book, itself, is a great overview of spec ops and intelligence gathering from Carter's debacle in the desert to present-ish.

Yes I thought Killer Elite was an EXCELLENT book.
