Eighty-four percent (84%) of Americans say English should be the official language of the United States. Only nine percent (9%) disagree, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Seven percent (7%) are not sure.
The support for English as the country’s official language remains steady from three years ago.
Eighty-one percent (81%) say a U.S. company should be allowed to require employees to speak English on the job, up four points from November 2007. Thirteen percent (13%) disagree.
Eighty-two percent (82%) also reject the idea that requiring people to speak English is a form of racism or bigotry, up three points from 2007. Just 10% think such a requirement is racist or bigoted.

Congress just can’t get no respect.
While Republicans and Democrats disagree over most people and issues, they have one low opinion in common – the U.S. Congress.
Consider: When all voters are asked which branch of the federal government they trust the most, 34% say the Supreme Court, while 27% choose the president, or what the Founding Fathers called the Executive Branch.
Only 13% say Congress is the branch of government they trust most, and twice as many voters (27%) are undecided.

This last point is sad. Congress was the only branch the founders trusted us to directly elect (the House not Senate). It is also the branch that is most accountable as its elected every two years and needs to be responsiveto local concerns. Yet we don't trust it. Gee, I wonder why? Could it be that money plays too large a role as most Americans can't be bothered to do their patriotic duty to keep up with the news and then show up to vote accordingly?
FQ13 who again laments the fact that civics and current evens aren't required in high school anymore and not just for selfish reasons either

It could be because the sheep are either lazy or stupid and vote for lying, do nothing assholes like Pelosi, Reid, and BO because they make such ridiculous , unachievable promises that sound nice but have repeatedly proven to not work.

Ah c'mon Tom, the only reason the don't work is because those who've tried them over and over before haven't had the right INTENTIONS. It just takes the right people to make the wrong policies effective.
Sorry, I can't even type that with a straight face. ;D

I was listening the The Rifleman on the way home. Fred (of Fred's M-14 stocks and the Appleseed program) was discussing how nothing before 1970 is taught in schools anymore because it leads to a culture of violence. The dumbing continues
