Title: BSA Sweet 22 scope*update range report*
Post by: dj454 on May 17, 2009, 07:23:47 PM
I picked up a new scope for my 10/22. The old Bushnell 4X has not been keeping zero between range trips, which is at least once a month. I had been looking at the BSA sweet 22 since Christmas so I finally bought it. I have it mounted but I have not been able to sight it in yet. It has rained since I mounted it on my rifle. I will let you guys know how it does after a trip to the range.

I finally got to the range to sight my new scope in. I also added a power custom hammer to lighten the trigger pull. I should have done that a long time ago. In short the scope performed beautifully. The added power of the scope helped my accuracy in my opinion because I could see my bullet holes at 50 yards. I shot some of the best groups I have shot with this rifle. Sorry no pictures I didn't bring the camera. My best 10 shot group at 50 yards was quarter size with bulk Federal .22 ammo. I am pleased with how this scope performed,as well as the lighter trigger pull. I should see an improvement in my score at the next match. I wish I could afford my bull barrel before the next match now that I have my new stock also but I will have to wait until the next match.

I looked these up and it looks like there is more than one model. Which do you have?

Thanks. Do you think I really need to do any real customization to get the benefits of the scope? I like it light and handy, the way it is.

Fuzzdaddy even if you don't modify your 10/22 I think you will like the scope. It made a big difference to me before I started adding the goodies. To FQ13 I answered in the other post(the stock post)not at this time I  will keep you in mind. The original is one of the prettiest Ruger stocks I had seen. That is what drew me too this rifle. It is birch according to the sticker on the buttplate. I ran the serial number on Ruger's sight and it was built in 1981.

One of the prettiest Ruger 10/22 stocks I ever saw was a maple stocked one.  Lots of natural tiger stripping in it.  Unfortunatley it was a display gun at a big box store.   They had employees that didn't take care of the stuff and it had gotten beaten up.  Had it been in good shape I'd have bought it for the stock alone.

I know I'm not helping my bargaing position, but that is a sweet piece of wood. I've never seen anything like it on a stock Ruger. You definately got lucky.
