Title: Today . . .
Post by: Pathfinder on May 19, 2009, 01:57:16 PM
I joined the ranks of Tom, TW and FQ, as well as the others, and got laid off.

The bank had 3 bad quarters and is cutting 4% of the workforce - or so they say. They refused to give me any answers at all, only referring to the CEO's memo of a few weeks back that there would be about 4% layoffs.

Minimal severance, and they walked me to the door - barely let me get my keys and iPod off the desk. They were too busy today to actually watch me as I cleaned out my desk, I will have to do that some other day - after hours so as not to disturb the rest of the natives. >:(

It's a crappy bank - not the crappiest, but not a great one.

sorry to hear it Pathfinder,
I recently took a pay cut that just barely keeps the bills paid, can't imagine being without work though.

Sorry to be welcoming you to the club. At least my company treated us decent, sounds like yours were a bunch of pricks.

Sorry to hear it. It makes me feel lucky. At least I just lossed a promised job. Its a lot worse to lose one you've already got and were depending on.

Sorry to hear it Path.

I've been working two jobs now for about 4 years. The second is a part time janitorial job at a local auto dealer which is about to come to an end soon I'm afraid.

I'm lucky I guess.

Sorry to hear about your bad news, Pathfinder. This is really a miserable time we're having here and I've seen so many good people get hammered for no fault of their own.
I still say the Stimulus would work a lot better if the folks at the bottom who buy things got the money. The Democrats always deride "Trickle Down Economics", but that is exactly what they're practicing right now. You shore up all the fat cats and eventually some of that will trickle down to us regular folk.

Pardon the mini-rant....I hope things work out for you quickly.

Hey path and all the others in this boat, sorry to hear this.  I whine about my long hours and late nights, but I tend to forget the alternative.  I will be remembering you all daily!

Sorry to hear of your troubles Pathfinder.  Your job now is getting another job.  I do not know what the work situation is in ND but your job now is finding a new one.  Spend as much time looking for a new job as you spend on the old one and you will be employed before you know it.

Pathfinder,
I really hate that the rug got snatched out from under you like that, pal.
All I can say is that what I know of you from your posts, you have a good head on your shoulders and things will turn around quickly. And, another more fruitful door will open for you to take you down a better path.

Pathfinder,

I feel for you.  Been there.  Done that.

Move quickly.  Capitalize on your contacts and network.  I was left hanging out to dry by Worldcom.  I feel your pain.

If you need to talk or help in with resume or job search, let me know.

Really? You always complain about how dead your work is . . . .

Before I go sit in the corner yet again, thanks everyone - had to vent myself a little.

Off to the corner now . . .

Sorry to hear it Path.  I guess I'll stop bitching about working two jobs, and start repeating to myself, "I love my job and my job loves me........"

Sorry to hear the news Pathfinder. I took the buyout from Chrysler April 24th. Best thing I could have done now that I see the rest of my buddies on furlough since they filed bankruptcy. Not much for jobs out there. Have dozens of resumes out and still nothing. I figured having two college degrees and being a veteran that I would have no problem finding a job. Wrong answer.

Good luck and hope the best for you.

Damn Pathfinder,

I'm very sorry to hear about your day. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it is not a train coming towards you!

Do what you have to do, something is always out there in the banking and finance world. ( If that's what you want to continue to do ).

You know you'll have some great references from all over the country if you need them.

Go get em'.

Tom W.

Good guys giving good advice, sorry too for you and your family, but keep the chin up and chest out, in your soon to be interviews, show the new employers your best points, which I'm sure are many.
