The smartest president in U.S. history seems to have confused Memorial Day with Veterans Day. According to the Associated Press:
President Barack Obama saluted veterans and urged his countrymen to do the same this Memorial Day weekend, saying the nation has not always paid them proper respect.
In his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday, Obama said people can honor veterans by sending a letter or care package to troops overseas, volunteering at health clinics or taking supplies to a homeless veterans center. He said it could also mean something as simple as saying "thank you" to a veteran walking by on the street.
****
"That is what Memorial Day is all about," Obama said. "It is about doing all we can to repay the debt we owe to those men and women who have answered our nation's call by fighting under its flag. It is about recognizing that we, as a people, did not get here by accident or good fortune alone."
Someone might want to explain to the President that it is a little difficult to say "thank you" or send care packages to the deceased.

Even I, Haz, beat my head against the wall over this one. I have been to three military funerals for people I know, and have no desire to attend a fourth. You would think that someone could have gotten this through his head.

When Obama was in Muslim school they forgot to cover America's Memorial Day. Go figure.

It's not B O's fault, (the anointed one has no faults ) it is the fault of that Bush supporting extremist potential terrorist who loaded the teleprompter !!! BO never had an original thought on his own, he isn't actually tall, he walks on tip toe because of Soros's hand up his ass like a liberal Muppet.

Someone should explain to him that Veterans day is the "Little Holiday that could"....generally gets traded for the day after Thanksgiving! I've never had one off unless it landed on a weekend.....
Labor day should be cancelled since 1/2 the population doesn't work anymore!

He isn't the only one that can't figure it out. I was in Fredricksburg and the new Trace Adkins song "Til the Last Shots Fired" was on the radio. :'( WOW BTW that guy needs to be given a medal or two!. So I get home to put it on the MP3 player and log into Napster. Their "Memorial Day playlist" is a "feel good, give peace a chance" load of crap. Good songs mind you but Dixie Chicks "Travelling Soldier" is the only one on the list that even REMOTELY has anything to do with why we have Memorial Day. "Imagine?" "Give Peace a Chance?" "Tracks of my Tears?" Is that the best they could come up with?
Maybe if more of the sheeple had spent time in the Service we wouldn't have this problem (or this President). Semper Fi!

I complained 2 years ago to google that they had nothing on the page for Veterans Day - no special logo or anything. Other search sites did. The lying little fascists at google told me - golly, we can't come up with something for every holiday now, can we?
Yet they managed to come up with a different logo every damn day of the damned Olympics.

This is the same Obama that was apparently busy with his puppy-vetting process or playing basketball while the Russians where nabbing our Afghan supply air-base in Kyrgizstan.
Obama is endangering our national security, a failure of his most primary duty as president… maybe we should draw a line here?
Living in a celebrity-driven/liberal/MSM fantasy world is not a right of Obama supporters to cling-to indefinitely, as it’s both the voters and the press’ duty to make informed, good-faith decisions… not waste power making a hollow fashion statement instead.
It’s rapidly getting to the point where this kind of willfully-ignorant “thinking” is not just irresponsible, but dangerous. Obamania’s sheeple are deeply delusional... and as Obama’s enablers, these fools are going to get us killed.
Obama needs to google Memorial Day
Perhaps he skipped the day at school when kids were taught the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day (oh wait; this stuff isn’t taught anymore). Or he wants to outdo his VP in foot-in-mouth blunders. Saturday, during his weekly radio address, President Obama urged people to honor veterans by sending a letter or care package to troops overseas and volunteering at health clinics or taking supplies to a homeless veterans center. He said it could also mean something as simple as saying “thank you” to a veteran walking by on the street.
That’s nice and all; but I think you’ve got your holidays confused. This is Memorial Day, not Veteran’s Day. Did you not get the memo?
Would someone please tell Barack Obama the difference between the two?
He also had this to say:
We have a responsibility to serve all of them as well as they serve all of us. And yet, all too often in recent years and decades, we, as a nation, have failed to live up to that responsibility. We have failed to give them the support they need or pay them the respect they deserve.
Hey, weren’t you the one that was considering a plan to make veterans pay for their medical treatment? At any rate, I find it disheartening that he would lump us all in the category of ‘not paying respect to veterans’ to cover up his own shortcomings in that department. Newsflash Obama-wan: There are many of us who hold the utmost respect for those who have worn the uniform, served, and given his life for the cause of freedom. Many of us already celebrate Memorial Day (not Veteran’s Day) by honoring the brave men and women who have died to protect our freedoms and liberties. And there are many of us who would rather spend federal money on our military than converter boxes for digital television.

I agree with about 1/2 to 2/3 of your post, but we were given the boot from Kyrgizstan under Bush. It was a result of the Georgia debacle.
