Post by: Erusen on May 28, 2009, 06:52:51 AM
Of course the appropriate thing to do would be for everyone to read Trail Safe, but these CNN idiots will never get it. I am sure we can pick some of these "15 tips" apart (to shreds):

These tips for travelers could save your life
CNN
What do you do during a knife or gun attack? By Steve Almasy (CNN) -- How would you respond if you were checking into your hotel on an international vacation and your friend yelled, "Hey, what room are you in?" Avoiding dangerous shortcuts is one way ...

Their knife attack suggestion is great, except for the letting yourself get stabbed part.  Bryan's tips for traveling in foreign countries...don't.  They ain't got nothing we ain't got.

"15. Proper research: Experts agree . . . ."

Experts agree? :o  Did they ask anybody here? Is the best defensive stance really the fetal position?

I had a friend lose his luggage in a cab.  He had luggage in the trunk (boot), and when he got out at his destination and walked around to retrieve it, the cab peeled away.  I don't know if he paid for the ride before exiting.

Seems to be aimed more at foreign travel where carrying a gun is not (legally) an option. As for #14  Giving up your wallet and running like hell may be your only option against a gun but personally I would swipe a steak knife from the first place I ate. I DAMN SURE would not drop to the ground and curl up in a ball, The rest of the world plays to much soccer, balls are for kicking.

I know, that works on a lot of levels  ;D
