Title: Gene Autry's 100th Birthday
Post by: Dakotaranger on September 29, 2007, 01:40:45 AM
While this isn't necessarily firearms related, it does promote American Culture.  The Cowboy Conservative has a post celebrating the life and times of Gene Autry on the 100th anniversry of his birth.

Heroes, both of them!  Gene was actually in the military, while John Wayne inspired many to be in the military.  When you think of all the stars that were heroes:  Audie Murphy, Captain Kangaroo (I always forget his name), Lee Marvin, James Stewart, and Mr. Roger's neighborhood start who was a Navy Seal with tattoos (the reason why he always wore long sleeves. God Bless our Vets!!

drgray,
Sorry, but the Mr. Rodgers SEAL/Marine Sniper thing is a total urban myth.   He never served in the military in anay capacity, unless as a an ordained minister  ;)

Hurrah for the Duke and Gene though  ;D
