Targets hard to beat. If she can get out maybe something from the mall as its an excuse to there, if nio maybe Amazon, as just like target she can get anything. Borders or Barnes and Noble are always good if she likes books or music, and block buster if she's stuck at home.

PS if I recall wine coolers and cigarettes should be popular too. ;D

Gift certificate to a phone store.

Clothes and fancies are always nice for a girl coming into that age, but being injured I'm thinking a gift card that would get her out and about with friends and others of her own age. Up here I would say a trip to the Park at the Mall of America (formerly Camp Snoopy - the large indoor ammusement park).

if she is anything like my niece,
iPod, iTunes gift card,

with a bum knee.. it is going to be a crappy summer with her friends being out and about.. and she will bein hobble mode. But all the ideas are good.
Nix the wine and cigs... ( she is 12)
Old Navy is a great store for clothes...
also, gift certificates to the movie theater is good for teens.
I'm sure that anything you get her will be liked. G/C are always a plus with kids.. They get to use them at will and on their own terms..
Thats nice of you Tab that you are doing this.. especially if you don;'t know the girl..

They already used MY suggestions of Gift cards for Books, Mall and phone.

Don't forget the fast food & movie passes! Some aspects of her summer may be less expensive. That can help you come up with some fun stationary things that will make it easy for her to invite her friends. ;)

My first choice is a Glock 26, but I would agree with Phil on his.
