Title: gun control will reduce crime???
Post by: philw on June 06, 2009, 08:35:33 PM
When they say gun control will reduce crime, and it goes UP, likewise, not just we, but the media and public at large should be asking; 'What's wrong with existing laws'?

Notice the astounding LACK of improvement in crime rates since 1996 (source: AIC (http://www.aic.gov.au/publications/facts/))

And since it was also cost at least half a billion dollars in a failed 'buyback' over here (A process that forces you to sell, at a price of the buyers choosing, of something that was never theirs in the first place, is confiscation, not buyback), and several million dollars a year in administration is not good policy either. Especially when hospitals and roads could really use that funding.

the only thing that has ever been proven when it comes to guns and crime is...

guns play no roll in crime stats.

Violent offenders are not facing severe enough penalties. They have a black guy here in NH who was convicted of MURDERING a Cop, he was sentenced to DEATH, The socialists immediately started campaigning to have NH's death penalty repealed.
Most cases of violent crime  involve gang members and they are allowed to plead to a lesser offense, after they get a light sentence they get time off for good behavior, parole, and other reductions.
Violent offenders who are not executed should never leave prison.
Guns are not to blame, lazy Judges are to blame and should be made accountable.

I think Tom is one hundred percent right here. I have no preference one way or the other for the death penalty, I'm just as happy with life WITHOUT parole. Whatever works. The point is, if you pre-meditately use a weapon, of whatever sort, in a crime, you should be done, period, goodbye.
