Title: A Professional Idiot, Secret Service has Zero Tolerance for this crap.
Post by: twyacht on June 06, 2009, 08:56:29 PM
Granted there are plenty of folks that don't like the way the country is going, don't like BHO, and frankly think this is BS, and I'm going to do something about it.

Well, don't withdraw large sums of cash (from your account), in sequential bills no larger than $50.00 bills, and than tell the teller, "It's to assassinate the POTUS."

BAD, BAD, VERY BAD MOVE!!!! Let me repeat: BAD!

Uh, you guessed right, the teller called the Feds/ Secret Service, and it was found in short order that this man OWNS GUNS TOO.....

They got this info through his legal purchases "firearm paper trail", and they caught him because he is an idiot.

Man charged with threatening to kill Obama arrested in Nevada
June 6th, 2009 @ 1:23pm

By Ben Winslow

LAUGHLIN, Nevada -- The man wanted on a federal charge of making threats against President Barack Obama has been arrested, Utah authorities confirmed to KSL.

Daniel James Murray, 36, was arrested at a casino in Laughlin, Nev. on Friday. Murray was arrested about 7 p.m. in a parking lot outside the Riverside Casino. He was taken into custody by local police and Secret Service agents.

"He was arrested without incident," said Malcolm Wiley with the U.S. Secret Service. He declined to release any more information about the arrest or how authorities came to know about Murray's whereabouts.

Murray's former neighbors and family told the Albany Times-Union they dispute how dangerous he is.

Murray is accused of threatening to kill the president during a bizarre confrontation at a St. George bank last month. Charging documents filed on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City claim the man told a St. George bank teller he is "on a mission to kill the president of the United States."

A Secret Service agent wrote in an affidavit that Murray opened an account at a Zions Bank in St. George last month with an $85,000 check, but asked if the bank was "solvent," stating "…with all this mess going on under President Obama with banks and the economy, I'm sure if citizens happened to lose their money, they would rise up and we could see killing and deaths."

Days later, Murray returned to the bank to withdraw more than $12,000 in bills no larger than a $50 bill and in a non-sequential order, the criminal complaint said.

A Secret Service agent wrote in an affidavit that when there were problems making the withdrawal, Murray became upset. "Not to be disrespectful, but if I don't get this money, someone is going to die," he is accused of saying.

While his cash was counted, the Secret Service agent wrote that Murray said, "We are 94 million miles from the sun and are in between the sun and moon, and the eagle that flies between them, and it's a giant step for mankind ... I have traveled thousands of miles to be here and know things that are going to happen ... the banking system will fail and people will die ... there will be chaos in the world."

As the teller handed him the cash, the charging documents claim Murray said, "We are on a mission to kill the president of the United States." The next day, Murray cleaned out the bank account.

Of particular concern to federal authorities was the fact that Murray had eight handguns registered to him. Federal prosecutors do not typically file such a charge unless they believe someone is capable of carrying it out.

However, Murray's former neighbors and even his father disputed how dangerous he was. Murray's father told the Albany Times-Union newspaper "he's sick," referring to his son's mental state.

Barbara Bearnson, an assistant U.S. Attorney for Utah, said Murray likely will have an initial court appearance on Monday. He will face an identity hearing in a Nevada federal court before he is returned to Utah to face the federal charge.

Why didn't the Feds know ahead of time? He should have been on the "list" right?

Maybe there are side effects to those tin-foil hats....

While his cash was counted, the Secret Service agent wrote that Murray said, "We are 94 million miles from the sun and are in between the sun and moon, and the eagle that flies between them, and it's a giant step for mankind ... WICHITA, Kan. – The man charged with murdering a high-profile abortion doctor claimed from his jail cell Sunday that similar violence was planned around the nation for as long as the procedure remained legal, a threat that comes days after a federal investigation launched into his possible accomplices.

A Justice Department spokesman said the threat was being taken seriously and additional protection had been ordered for abortion clinics last week. But a leader of the anti-abortion movement derided the accused shooter as "a fruit and a lunatic."

Scott Roeder called The Associated Press from the Sedgwick County jail, where he's being held on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the shooting of Dr. George Tiller one week ago.

"I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal," Roeder said. He would not elaborate.

Tiller's clinic in Wichita was among only a few in the U.S. that perform third-trimester abortions. He was shot while serving as an usher at the Lutheran church he attended.

Asked if he shot Tiller, Roeder replied that he could not comment about that and said he needed to clear everything with his lawyer.

Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a written statement Sunday that "we take this matter seriously, which is why the Attorney General ordered increased protection of appropriate people and facilities last week."

Tiller's clinic had been a target of regular demonstrations by abortion opponents. Most were peaceful, but his clinic was bombed in 1986 and he was shot in both arms in 1993. In 1991, a 45-day "Summer of Mercy" campaign organized by Operation Rescue drew thousands of abortion opponents to Wichita, and there were more than 2,700 arrests.

Jim Cross, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office, did not immediately comment Sunday on Roeder's statement.

The Justice Department opened an investigation Friday to see if the gunman who killed Tiller had accomplices. The DOJ said its Civil Rights Division and the U.S. attorney's office in Kansas will investigate whether the killing violated a 1994 law creating criminal penalties for violent or damaging conduct toward abortion providers and their patients.

An attorney for the Tiller family, Dan Monnat, said he wasn't sure they should be dignifying Roeder's actions and threats with a response "every time he makes a hare-brained phone call."

"I am hopeful that state and federal authorities, including Homeland Security, will give Mr. Roeder and his information a deserving response," Monnat said, declining to elaborate.

Nancy Keenan president of NARAL-Pro-Choice America, said Roeder's comments "continue to escalate that kind of activity, that kind of violence. Quite honestly, I think it's imperative for anti-choice groups to tone down that rhetoric and keep the more extreme elements in their movement form copying Scott Roeder."

A funeral was held Saturday for Tiller. Most anti-abortion groups avoided the service, having denounced Tiller's shooting.

Troy Newman, president of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, read about Roeder's statement and e-mailed The Associated Press, saying: "This guy is a fruit and a lunatic."

Roeder, a 51-year-old abortion opponent, was arrested a few hours after the shooting just outside Kansas City.

He told the AP he refused to talk to investigators when he was arrested, and has made no statements to police since then.

"I just told them I needed to talk to my lawyer," Roeder said.

In two separate calls to AP on Sunday morning, Roeder was far more talkative about his treatment at the Sedgwick County jail, complaining about "deplorable conditions in solitary" where he was kept during his first three days there.

Sedgwick County Sheriff Robert Hinshaw said that Roeder is receiving appropriate medical treatment.

"It is after all a jail, but a modern state-of-the-art facility with professional staff," Hinshaw said. "While Mr. Roeder may not care for being in the Sedgwick County jail, all of our conditions and policies are designed to provide safety and security for all inmates, staff and public at large."

Roeder said it was freezing in his cell. "I started having a bad cough. I thought I was going to have pneumonia," he said.

He said he called AP because he wanted to emphasize the conditions in the jail so that in the future suspects would not have to endure the same conditions.

Roeder also said he wanted the public to know he has been denied phone privileges for the past two days, and needed his sleep apnea machine.

Ramen noodles kept me going in the early 90's.....yep......7 packs for a dollar and I could stack them in my locker at work. All I needed was a bowl and a spoon....and on rough days, the spoon was optional.
