Anyone out there have a SP 101 in 327 mag. I'd love to know what you think about it.

Posted this in another thread, but it is appropriate here
Second hand info, a woman, friend of a friend, has a .327 SP 101 and likes it a lot.

I have a sp101 in .357 and love it. I like the idea of the .327 but ammo is hard to find and .38 and .357 is not. If I didn't shoot so much I would have got one for the extra round but I wouldn't be able to shoot it enough to be happy. Besides I already had .357/.38 reloading dies and brass.

Makes sense to me. I stilll prefer my six round Security Six .357 snubbie to my SP 101 .357. I like the extra shot, plus the Security Six was my first handgun. Still can't beat the .357 magnum as the ultimate defense round. Perfect balance of power and penetration. Just curious about the .327 mag.

I would like to get a Sp101 in .327 federal magnum, but don't have the funds now or for the foreseeable future.  I think the cartridge is probably a good one.  I would term it a modern .32-20. I wish Ruger would make it in a single action.  I have heard of people have cylinders reamed for them and a few custom ones built.

Apparently there were some issues with the cylinders on some of them according to this:

Having read that I would still get one.

Kid, My first handgun ever was a stainless steel 4 inch .357 Security Six that I still have.  It has been joined by a snubby Speed Six with the round butt.

Sweet. Have you seen the prices for Service, Security and Speed Sixes lately? They are becomming very collectible. There is a guy on eBay that makes custon American elk grips for all of the above. They can even come with Ruger medallions. They fit perfectly and look awesome on my Security Six.

Kid, I also love my Security six "my avatar" great gun. About five years ago I came across  the Speed and Service and didn't pick them up.  :-\

I'll have to check out elk grips.
